Henry Hübchen (born 20 February 1947 in Berlin) is a German actor who played the title character in the award-winning 2004 film Go for Zucker. That performance earned him a Lola, Germany's equivalent of an Oscar and critical praise at home and abroad. He was raised in East Berlin, in what was then East Germany.

Henry Hübchen est élevé à Berlin-Est, dans ce qui était alors l'Allemagne de l'Est .

Il étudie le théâtre à l'Académie des arts dramatiques Ernst Busch à Berlin ainsi qu'à Magdebourg.

Il a remporté le prix du théâtre de Berlin (Theaterpreis Berlin) en 2000.

Il tient le rôle du personnage principal du film primé Go for Zucker (2004) pour lequel il remporte une Lola, l'équivalent allemand d'un Oscar et des critiques élogieuses aussi bien en Allemagne qu'à l'étranger.

Michael (or 'Micha') is a 17-year-old growing up in communist East Germany (GDR) in the 1970s. He spends his time with his friends listening to banned pop music, partying and trying to win over the heart of Miriam, who is dating a West Berlin boy. Over the course of the movie his best friend Mario, falls for an existentialist, gets kicked out of school and subsequently discovers he is going to be a father. The closing of the movie upsets Micha's thus far idealistic life, as Mario sells out his ideals by signing up for military service to support his girlfriend and the child. Furthermore, his young blonde friend, Wuschel, is shot by a GDR guard, but survives, thanks to The Rolling Stones double album Exile on Main St. in which the bullet has lodged. The young boy is devastated, however, prominently displaying the importance of pop music in their lives.

In a Jewish ghetto in German-occupied Poland, a man named Jakob is summoned to the Gestapo office on a charge he broke the curfew. As the soldier who sent him there merely played a prank on him, he is released, but not before hearing a radio broadcast about the defeats of the German Army. As no one believes he went to the Gestapo and came out alive, Jakob makes up another tale, claiming he owns a radio – a crime punishable by death. He then starts encouraging his friends with false reports about the advance of the Red Army toward their ghetto. The residents, who are desperate and starved, find new hope in Jakob's stories. But it all ends as the Germans deport the people to their death in the extermination camps.
