Huntley Gordon (October 8, 1887 – December 7, 1956) was an actor born in Montreal, Quebec.

Biography

Huntley Gordon commence sa carrière pendant le conflit mondial de 1914-1918 en tant qu’acteur dès 1916. Son premier film, tourné pendant son engagement en Angleterre où il était basé, possédait comme arrière plan le conflit de la Première Guerre. Après sa démobilisation, il est demandé par des firmes Hollywoodiennes, qui recherchaient des acteurs au regard suave et à l’allure élégante et distinguée, adaptés pour les films muets. Toujours demandé par Hollywood pendant la période des films parlants à la fin des années 1920, Huntly Gordon a voyagé entre l’Angleterre et les États-Unis pour tourner plus de 120 films avec les studios de la Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

Il se retire vers les années 1940 pour se réorienter vers la fabrication des bas de soie, affaire lucrative grâce aux restrictions de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. On l'entendra souvent dans des interviews radiophoniques canadiennes et anglaises.

Three thousand years after ancient egyptian Neferus's death, Professor Dean Lambert (who looks like Neferus) is translating his history tablet by tablet. Dean is convinced that falling in love will ruin him as it did Neferus, whose love to the Pharoah's daughter led to his downfall. He meets aspiring actress and heiress Jane Van Buren and exchanges clothes with her drunk audition partner, Snoop Donlan. Dean is arrested for stinking of liquor. His arrest makes the papers and he is asked to resign from the museum staff. Dean has ten days to join an expedition leaving for Egypt from New York and becomes a stowaway in the trailer of a pair of newlyweds bound for Niagara Falls. Snoop then accuses Dean of stealing his watch and clothes. Jane, meanwhile, follows the trailer in order to return Dean's clothes and the museum's car. The newlyweds kick Dean out, while the police trail him on suspicion of robbery and jumping bail. Jane then finds Dean and urges him to clear himself, but he convinces her to keep going to New York. While fleeing the police, Jane and Dean camp in the desert, and he falls in love and kisses her. The kiss causes a storm to break, just like the story of Neferus and Anebi. Dean is struck by lightning and begins speaking in a strange language.

Terry Randall (Katharine Hepburn) moves into the Footlights Club, a theatrical rooming house in New York. Her polished manners and superior attitude make her no friends among the rest of the aspiring actresses living there, particularly her new roommate, flippant, cynical dancer Jean Maitland (Ginger Rogers). From Terry's expensive clothing and her photograph of her elderly grandfather, Jean assumes she has obtained the former from her sugar daddy, just as fellow resident Linda Shaw (Gail Patrick) has from her relationship with influential theatrical producer Anthony Powell (Adolphe Menjou). In truth however, Terry comes from a very wealthy, upper class, Midwest family. Over the strong objections of her father, Henry Sims (Samuel S. Son capitaine, Bull Brackett, tombe amoureux de Rose et lui donne sa cabine. Il accepte de débarquer Fah Wong à Seattle, et il y apprend que Rose est recherchée pour le meurtre de Chan Lo. Sœur Annie Alden, qui a embarqué à Seattle, est outrée par la moralité de Rose, mais lorsqu'Annie tombe malade, c'est Rose qui la soigne, impressionnée par la nature charitable de la jeune femme. Annie meurt au moment où l'inspecteur Jack Forrest embarque avec l'intention d'arrêter Rose. Celle-ci se fait alors passer pour Annie et elle arrive à convaincre avec l'aide de Bull que la morte est bien "Frisco Doll". Arrivés en Alaska, Rose et Jack commencent à s'apprécier mais un jour il entend une conversation entre elle et Bull qui lui fait comprendre la situation réelle.
