Iko Uwais, né Uwais Qorny le 12 février 1983 à Jakarta, est un acteur et artiste martial indonésien.

Biography

Né à Jakarta (Indonésie), Iko Uwais est un artiste martial de Pencak-Silat depuis ses 10 ans. En 2007, il est découvert par le cinéaste gallois Gareth Evans alors que celui-ci préparait un documentaire sur le Silat. Iko abandonne alors son travail de livreur dans une société téléphonique pour rejoindre Gareth Evans dans son film Merantau, qui sort en 2009.

Leur collaboration continue avec un autre film intitulé Berandal. Celui-ci ne peut pas voir le jour en raison des gros coûts de production : Gareth Evans décide donc de réaliser un autre film avec un budget minimal nommé Serbuan maut (ou The Raid: Redemption aux États-Unis) avant de pouvoir reprendre Berandal, dont le tournage a lieu fin 2012.

Une équipe de mercenaires sans scrupules, dirigée par Devereaux, en engage deux autres, Payu et Long Fei, pour une mission humanitaire en Thaïlande pour libérer des prisonniers. Le policier Mark Corley est avec son fils Trent dans le métro et assiste à l'invasion de Los Angeles par des extra-terrestres. Audrey, la conductrice de métro reçoit un message l'avertissant de ne pas regarder une lumière bleue. Or Trent, ignorant ce message l'a vu et est hypnotisé. C'est l'intervention de son père qui l'a retenu de toutes ses forces, l'empêchant ainsi d'être aspiré contrairement aux autres personnes qui ont regardées cette lumière. Mark aide ensuite un petit groupe de survivants à quitter la ville envahie par les extra-terrestres mais au cours de leur périple ils sont capturés et enfermés à bord d'un vaisseau spatial alien. Séparé du groupe de survivants, Mark rencontre un extra-terrestre différent des autres, celui-ci se bat du côté des humains qui est en fait Jarrod du film précédent. Mark rencontre ensuite Elaine, la femme de Jarrod, enceinte et sur le point d'accoucher, il l'aide à faire naître leur enfant qui s'avère être une petite fille qui grandit très vite et se révèle avoir des dons. Mark retrouve ensuite son fils qui se fait décerveler par des tentacules hostiles afin de devenir un soldat extra-terrestre, la conductrice de métro et l'aveugle noir et ensemble ils se battent tous contre le chef des aliens. Au cours de la bagarre, l'astronef finit par échouer au Laos. L'aveugle noir succombe à ses blessures tandis que Mark et la conductrice de métro qui tient dans ses bras la petite fille rencontrent deux asiatiques, Sua et Kanya. Ces derniers, un frère et une sœur qui appartiennent au triangle d'or, s'aident mutuellement pour combattre la menace extraterrestre. Ils se réfugient dans un temple bouddhiste où Mark, Audrey et la jeune fille rencontrent un scientifique du nom de Harper. Celui-ci a trouvé un remède contre les effets de la lumière hypnotique dans le sang de la jeune fille. Avec ce remède versé dans une seringue, Mark s'infiltre dans le vaisseau extra-terrestre et parvient à l'injecter dans une bombe extraterrestre qui rend la conscience à tous les humains qui ont été transformés en alien et tue le chef des envahisseurs. Dix ans plus tard, le bébé qui est devenu adulte est à la tête de la résistance humaine, traquant les extra-terrestres jusqu'au confins de l'univers pour les éliminer.

Tiger Chen [(Tiger Chen Linhu)] is the sole student of his elderly master's Ling Kong Tai Chi style. The plot follows Yuda, a Minangkabau from West Sumatra and an expert in silat. As part of the merantau (journeying) tradition, he leaves his home to seek experience and success. He plans to teach silat to the children of Jakarta. On his bus journey, he meets Eric, a fellow exponent of the art. When he hears of Yuda's plan, Eric becomes sombre, and warns him that the city is quite different from what Yuda is used to, and also that it is difficult to make a living teaching the art. Yuda finds that the address where he was meant to stay has been torn down, so he becomes homeless. His wallet is stolen by a child named Adit. Chasing the thief, Yuda then encounters the thief's sister, Astri, quarrelling with her boss, Johnny. When Johnny begins abusing Astri, Yuda intervenes. Yuda saves Astri but instead of gratitude, he is rebuked because she had become jobless as a result. The next day, Yuda sees Astri once again being beaten by Johnny. He intervenes again only to be beaten at first by his thugs. He quickly recovers and saves Astri from Johnny, while saving her he brutally scars Johnny's boss, Ratger. Ratger's associate, Luc tries to calm down Ratger, but to no avail as Ratger decides to stay in the city to hunt down Astri and Yuda.
