In 2001 in Iraq, two American Navy pilots—Butch Masters and Tom Craig—are ordered to bomb an abandoned plant. The order appears to be false. American experts get killed in the plant. A secret chemical device, called "Rainmaker", designed for oil fields destruction, gets stolen. Military court cannot prove the pilots' intentions, and gives them a dishonorable discharge. After seven years Craig is rich and famous. He manages a private pilot team, working for Top Gun and for movies. Masters is a grease monkey in a small airport. He still tries to investigate his old case, and dreams of his own pilot's team. In order to get a license to fly Russian jets, Masters goes to St. Petersburg, where he meets old friends and new problems. At the same time, a Kurdish terrorist group plans to capture a part of Northern Iraq and found a new Kurdish state there. They plan to use Rainmaker to destroy oil fields there and make the territory uninteresting for Americans. The terrorists' base is located in Northern Iran, and cannot be reached by US military. Navy intelligence offers Masters to clear his name by performing a secret off-records mission to Iran with a team of retired pilots. Using unmarked planes, they have to bomb the base and destroy "Rainmaker". Doomed to death, betrayed by friends, and left in the Syrian desert, Masters and his team finds unexpected support from the Russian Knights aerobatic team. Russians and Americans go to the final battle side by side.

The personalities of three neighborhood teens, Alex, Tuck and Munch, clash as they receive cryptic encoded messages on their cell phones which contain maps to a crashed alien. The friendly alien needs specific parts to repair itself and lures the boys to help it by following maps sent to their cell phones. They are all closely tailed by the usual shadowy government agents who plan to trap the alien for dissection. As the boys (and later, a girl named Emma who joins them) befriend the little E.T., they name him "Echo" due to its ability to echo sounds. After being caught and escaping the government agents, the crew takes a newly repaired Echo to the buried bridge of its ship. They say goodbye and escape to the surface as the rest of the ship assembles itself by pulling parts up from the ground and reassembling itself above their neighborhood.

Demi (Harris), is a veteran Soviet Navy captain finishing up a career that failed to live up to the legacy of his legendary father. He is given an assignment by Markov (Henriksen) to lead a top secret mission and given the command of his old ship. Due to mistakes he made during his service, involving the deaths of many of his past crew in a fire, this will be his last assignment and his only opportunity to command any ship at all. Demi interrupts a party involving his crew, including Alex Kozlov (Fichtner), his up-and-coming executive officer headed for great success. However, as Demi leaves his home to lead Alex and his crew of on the secret mission, the presence of KGB agent Bruni (Duchovny), and ominous portents, begin to alter the objectives of the mission, causing Demi and Kozlov to become concerned. Rachel Maleman (Meredith Monroe) is an event planner at a hotel in Philadelphia. She used to date her co-worker John Anderson (Brett Watson), however, he cheated on her. The two start going out on dates and at the same time, John still has feelings for Rachel. A private investigator named Jerry Berman (Bill Lake) is hired by the father of one of Craig's ex-girlfriends, named Dominique (Allison Brennan), who went missing. She was actually murdered by Craig when she told him that she was pregnant. Another girl that Craig dated, named Melissa (Sophie Gendron) was assaulted by Craig, in which he paid her to keep quiet about the incident. Now, after dating Rachel for a while with John out of the picture, Craig proposes to her. Upon wedding dress shopping, Rachel and her friend and co-worker Laura (Krista Morin) see Craig stop by at the boutique. He then picks out a dress that both Rachel and Laura do not approve of, but purchases it anyway. Craig asks his fiancee to quit her job at the hotel and work at his house, by starting her own event planning business, just so that he could spend more time with her. After he belittled her job and explained about his past relationships, this caused her to have concern and re-think about getting married. Throughout the film, Craig is revealed to be more controlling and obsessive. He kidnaps his fiancee and abandons their dog, Cody, at the side of the road. Rachel is in jeopardy when Craig becomes abusive towards her and eventually holds her at gunpoint when police arrive. He then gets shot by Mr.

The film’s opening credits have a lingering sense of unease to them, which is capitalized on as soon as Caroline and Jackie arrive at the “surprise birthday party” Caroline has planned for Jackie (despite her birthday not being for two months and it actually being Caroline‘s birthday) – where the dynamic between the pair (and Ryan, to some degree) is pushed out to the larger group, ratcheted up by rapid cuts and lingering looks between Jackie’s friends. But it’s not just a surprise dinner party that Caroline has put together – when the group ends up back at Jackie’s place, the real “party” is revealed. It’s an intervention for Jackie, headed up by Caroline, who hopes that she and Jackie’s friends can help her with a variety of issues – anorexia, pill abuse, alcoholism, and even sexual promiscuity.

The movie is about a fictional small town in Alaska named Mystery, where hockey is the cohesive activity that unites the town. The "Saturday Game" is a weekly event of amateur four-on-four pond hockey played on the open ice of the town's frozen lake. The team consists of ten local townsmen of varying ages and occupations with two goalies and eight skaters publicly scrimmaging each other every Saturday.
