Il fait ses débuts à trois ans, et à l'âge de sept ans est déjà sous le nom de Jean-François Maurin, au TNP dans Les Troyennes mise en scène de Michael Cacoyannis ou dans En attendant Godot de Samuel Beckett, mise en scène de Roger Blin, puis il jouera ensuite à La Cartoucherie de Vincennes, au théâtre de l'Œuvre en passant par le Café de la gare.
Sous le nom de Jean-François Maurin puis à partir de ses 18 ans, sous le nom de Jean-François Vlérick, Il jouera de nombreux téléfilms à la télévision et au cinéma. Depuis Trois enfants dans le désordre à Une chance de trop sur TF1. Il prête également sa voix à Zach Galligan dans Gremlins (1984), à Michelangelo dans la trilogie de films des Tortues Ninja, Numéro 5 dans Short Circuit, Martin Short dans L'Aventure intérieure, Eric Stoltz dans La Mouche 2, ou encore Brad Dourif (« Langue de serpent ») dans Le Seigneur des Anneaux.
Metteur en scène en 2006 de Victimes du devoir d'Eugène Ionesco et « militant artistique en faveur de l'action culturelle » tel qu'il se définit, il intervient en milieu scolaire et organise divers stages et cours.

Biography
Fils de la comédienne Mado Maurin, le jeune Jean-François fait très tôt partie d'une sorte de troupe familiale baptisée par le métier les « petits Maurin » et comprenant ses frères Jean-Pierre Maurin (1941-1996), Yves-Marie Maurin (1944-2009), Patrick Dewaere (1947-1982), Dominique Collignon-Maurin (né en 1949) et Marie-Véronique Maurin (née en 1960). During an investigation of missing children, Damian Wayne, still fighting crime as Robin, has taken the Batmobile out to an abandoned toy factory without Batman's consent, where he finds Anton Schott, who is responsible for the children's disappearance and has also transformed some of them into grotesque, mutilated "Dolls". Damian's father, Bruce, arrives as Batman to aid Damian in the resulting battle, with Damian chasing after the Schott while Batman knocks out the Dolls with gas and frees the remaining children. Damian chooses to spare Schott, only for an owl-masked assassin to kill him, telling Damian to never doubt his instincts. The assassin leaves Damian and the Schott's body behind, leading Batman to accuse Damian of murdering him when he arrives. Damian insists he spared Schott out of respect for Batman, and after inspecting the body further, Batman discovers an owl feather.

The Kingdom of Malaria's environment is devastated by a mysterious storm.
