Rudolf, bon vivant dans sa soixantaine en est convaincu. "La femme doit se battre pour toi, faire tous les efforts possibles. Très cher, quand une femme s'ennuie, c'est mauvais signe." Le jeune Ondra souffre d'asthme et ses parents jettent son jouet préféré: un vieil ours en peluche nommé Kooky. Cette nuit-là, Ondra rêve que Kooky est déterminé à retrouver le chemin de la maison. Oskar (Jiří Macháček), a popular TV weather forecaster, suddenly wakes up to an altered sense of identity: rather than belonging to easygoing wife Zuzana (a bewildered Simona Babčáková), he feels he ought to belong to the whole wide world – hence the national embarrassment. Josef Tkaloun is a teacher at a high school in Prague who cannot control his anger when his pupils misbehave in his poetry class. He quits his job and despite his wife urging him to retire, becomes a cycle courier. After an inevitable accident, he still refuses to stay at home and takes a job in the local Žižkov supermarket. He works behind a counter, recycling glass beer bottles. He begins to flirt with the customers and matchmake both for an old friend and for the man he works with. His own flirtations (and sexually charged dreams) almost get him into trouble with his wife, so he resolves to reignite the passion in his marriage by celebrating his wedding anniversary with a hot air balloon ride. The scary balloon ride, ending in crash, revitalizes the relationship.

Milan and Goran are two criminals who smuggle illegal immigrants. One night after they complete a smuggle, they discover that one of the immigrants has left a baby behind. Milan and Goran decide to sell the baby to Lubos and Eman, who are responsible for running an illegal baby adoption center. Frantisek ne connait rien de la vie : jusqu'ici, il a passé toute son existence derrière les murs d’un asile psychiatrique.
