Jimmy Aubrey (born 23 October 1887, Bolton, Lancashire, England – died 2 September 1983, Woodland Hills, California) was an English actor who worked with both Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, having gone with Fred Karno's company to America. However he left to start on his own in Vaudeville. He started in comedies, then went onto comedic roles in drama.

He appeared in 419 films between 1915 and 1953.

Né au Royaume-Uni, Jimmy Aubrey, à l'instar de Charles Chaplin ou de Stan Laurel, fait partie de la troupe de Fred Karno, et arrive aux États-Unis à l'occasion d'une tournée.


Les débuts au cinéma
Il débute au cinéma à la Mittenthal Film Company, où, rapidement, il incarne Heinie aux côtés de Walter Kendig pour le duo Heinie et Louie dans des comédies burlesques, qui connaissent un certain succès. Walter Kendig décède brutalement d'un accident de moto en octobre 1915, Jimmy Aubrey poursuit seul la série.

Katie Higgins (Williams) is the wholesome daughter of a dairy farmer. The entire family (Pa, Ma, Suzie, Katie, and Junior) start the day with a brisk song and morning swim. One day, Katie meets travelling salesman Windy Weebe (Carson) who is instantly smitten. Weebe sells an elixir that purports to turn the user into a peppy, fit-as-a-fiddle specimen, and upon noticing the entire family's strength in the water, suggests that they all attempt to swim the English Channel. The family and Weebe head off to England whereupon they learn that the distance to be conquered is 20 miles "as the seagull flies" but with the currents, can be up to 42 miles. Katie is the only one in the family strong enough to attempt this feat, so she begins training with Weebe as her coach.

Irene (Greer Garson) is the wife of Victorian "man of property" Soames Forsyte (Errol Flynn), having married without love but after many proposals. The story involves a kindly small-town physician Doctor Lloyd Clayton (George Zucco), who attends the funeral of his twin brother, the evil magician Elwyn, whom he has secretly murdered because of the latter's deep involvement in the occult sciences.
