João Costa Menezes is a London-based Portuguese film actor, film producer and film director.

After a degree in Law by the University of Coimbra and three years working as a lawyer in Portugal, João decided to move to London in 1998, to follow an acting career. He got his first acting job in 1999, in the BBC series Sunburn, playing Luis. After that, he appeared in series such as Gormenghast and Jonathan Creek.

In London, he took a film course at the London Film School and a few workshops at Raindance .
His first short film as a director, actor and producer Zero, was shot in London in 2000. It was awarded a special prize at the Huesca Short Film Festival, Spain.
In 2001 he directed his first feature film, Akasha, a no-budget film shot in video, distributed in Russia, nominated for the Méliès d'Argent 2001. It was premiered in the United States of America at the Atlanta Film Festival.
In 2004 he directed his first music video Melancholic Ballad (for the Left Lovers), for The Fingertips, which became number 1 at Sic Radical and got the Best Music Video Award at the Arouca Film Festival.

João Got his Unarmed & Rapier and Dagger certification by the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat in June 2005. He has done stunts in Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang) and played a Roman Soldier in Gladiator.

In 2007 he directed the short film Remember My Dream, with the English model Jakki Degg.
In 2008 he directed Mulheres, Bah!, premiered at the Fantasporto Film Festival and presented at the 2008 Cannes Short Film Corner, a short film with London's West End singer and actress Madalena Alberto.

Menezes does also voice-over, having done the voice of a fly in Serial Killer and the 2007 Portugal campaign for Apple Inc.

In addition to acting and filmmaking, João Costa Menezes is also a qualified tennis instructor by the United States Professional Tennis Registry.

During the original outbreak of the Rage Virus, Don, his wife Alice, and four other survivors hide in a barricaded cottage on the outskirts of London. They hear a terrified boy pounding at their door, and let him in. A few minutes later, they discover that the infected have followed the boy to them. The infected attack and kill most of the survivors, while Don, Alice, and the boy are chased upstairs. Don is separated from Alice and when the boy is seen hiding in the closet. Alice rushes to get the boy, while Don tells her to just leave him. Soon the infected break into the room and after Alice pleading with Don to "help us", he decides to leave, abandoning them. In the late 2020s the world is in turmoil, with the United States fractured as a result of prolonged conflict and a pandemic of the "St. Mary's Virus" ravaging Europe. The United Kingdom is ruled as a fascist police state by the Norsefire Party. Political opponents, immigrants, Muslims, homosexuals and other "undesirables" are imprisoned in concentration camps. On November 4, a Guy Fawkes-masked vigilante identifing himself as "V" (Hugo Weaving) rescues Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman), an employee of the state-run British Television Network (BTN), from members of the "Fingermen" secret police while she is out past curfew. From a rooftop, they watch his demolition of the Old Bailey criminal court building, accompanied by fireworks and the 1812 Overture. Inspector Finch (Stephen Rea), Scotland Yard's Chief of Police, is tasked with investigating V's activities while BTN declares the incident an "emergency demolition". V interrupts the broadcast to claim responsibility and urges the people of Britain to rise up against their government. He asks them to meet him exactly one year later, on November 5, Guy Fawkes Night, outside the Houses of Parliament, which he promises to destroy. During the broadcast, the police attempt to capture V. Evey helps him escape but is knocked unconscious.
