John Bowe, né le 1er février 1950 en Angleterre, est un acteur britannique spécialisé dans les séries télévisées.

Biography

Né à Greasby, dans le Cheshire (Angleterre), John Bowe est un acteur surtout connu pour ses apparitions à la télévision. Son rôle le plus célèbre fut sûrement celui de George Marlow, dans le premier épisode de la série 'Suspect numéro un', en 1991. Plus récemment on l'a vu dans celle qui est intitulée'DCI Banks'.
Au cinéma il a joué dans 'Tuer n'est pas jouer' (The Living Daylights), un James Bond de 1987.
Il fut également membre de la Royal Shakespeare Company, après s'être formé à l'Old Vic Theatre School de Bristol.

Il est père de six enfants. Les deux dernières, Aimee et Maddie, sont nées de son union en 1995 avec l'actrice Emma Harbour, sa troisième épouse.

The prelude is set in 1919 on Eddington's expedition in Príncipe to observe the solar eclipse that year, before moving back in time to 1914. At the outbreak of the First World War Eddington is appointed chief astronomer at Cambridge by Sir Oliver Lodge and instructed to research Einstein's work and defend the Newtonian status quo, whilst Einstein is tempted back from Zurich to the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin in an attempt to aid the war effort by embarrassing Britain in disproving the work of its great scientist Isaac Newton. In Berlin, with his marriage already under tension, Einstein falls in love with his cousin Elsa.

The film begins in Alexandria with Cleopatra VII, Egypt's rightful Queen, in exile, while her sister Arsinoe and brother, Ptolemy have stolen the throne. Roman general Julius Caesar comes to collect Egypt's tax debt. After conversing with a courtesan, Cleopatra smuggles herself into the palace wrapped in a carpet; a gift from her to Caesar. He accepts the gift and the young queen is revealed to Caesar. The two spend the night together, and the next morning, Cleopatra and Ptolemy are betrothed to marry by Caesar. Shortly after the siblings are wed, Cleopatra is proclaimed Queen of Egypt, forcing Ptolemy to join forces with Arsinoe and drive their sister out of Alexandria.
