Biography
Fils du réalisateur Luis Buñuel, Juan Luis est éduqué chez les Jésuites. Il poursuit ses études universitaires en Amérique du Nord. Alors qu'il se trouve au Mexique pour assister au tournage d'un film de son père, il est engagé pour devenir l'assistant d'Orson Welles, parlant espagnol et anglais. Puis il travaille comme assistant pour plusieurs cinéastes (Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, Louis Malle, Henri Verneuil, Juan Antonio Bardem) et pour son père, Luis Buñuel, de 1959 à 1963, pour quatre films (La fièvre monte à El Pao, La Jeune Fille, Viridiana et Le Journal d'une femme de chambre).Vie privée

The story takes place in and around Paris, France in 1931. The story told is one of a love triangle between the Millers and Anaïs Nin. She is in a stable relationship with her husband Hugo, but longs for more out of life. When Nin first meets Henry Miller, he is working on his first novel. Nin is drawn to Miller and his wife June, as well as their bohemian lifestyle. Nin becomes involved in the couple's tormented relationship, having an affair with Miller and also pursuing June. Ultimately, Nin helps Miller to publish his novel, Tropic of Cancer, but catalyzes the Millers' separation, while she returns to Hugo.

Five incorrigible crooks, frustrated by their disappointing career as bank robbers, decide to switch from bank heists to kidnapping European celebrities. In a main thoroughfare on the outskirts of Rome, thousands of motorists are stuck in terrible traffic jam for twenty-four hours. In a stretch of road there is a variety of characters whose behaviour becomes strange. There is a selfish and hypocritical entrepreneur in a luxury car; a young hippie girl harassed and then raped by some dandies and a family from Naples on the way to Rome to abort their daughter. There is also an old couple that argues constantly; a patient that dies in the ambulance; an old actor staying in a small country house near the road; a female globetrotter who is hitch-hiking to the stopped cars and some young members of Far Left Wing among others. The day the traffic jam clears, the entrepreneur hires the girl from Naples for a record company in exchange for a sexual service. The girl is raped and then comforted by a man who wants to avenge her but then gives up. The rapists leave quietly once more.
