June Ada Rose Duprez (14 May 1918 – 30 October 1984) was an English film actress.

Biography

Fille de l'acteur américain Fred Duprez elle fait ses études au Froebel College à l'Université de Roehampton. Adolescente elle monte sur les planches avec la troupe du Coventry repertory company. Dans les années 1950 elle s'installe à New York et fait une brève carrière théatrale à Broadway. Elle arrête sa carrière d'actrice en 1961 et s'installe à Rome quelques années avant de finir ses jours à Londres.

Ernie Mott (Cary Grant) is a restless, irresponsible, wandering cockney with a good musical ear. On Armistice Day, Ernie visits the tomb of The Unknown Warrior, which memorializes those who died in World War I, including his father. Ernie wants a better life but doesn't want to settle down or work for it. When he returns home, Ma Mott (Ethel Barrymore) asks why he has returned after so long, and she gives him an ultimatum that he must stay home now or leave forever. He informs her that he will then be leaving next morning, and goes out to get a drink. He meets fellow musician Aggie Hunter (Jane Wyatt) outside the bar, but instead prefers the company of a gangster's fickle ex-wife Ada Brantline (June Duprez). However, when Ernie becomes smitten with Ada, she rejects his offer of a date when he tells her he will be leaving town tomorrow.

Captain Hardt (Conrad Veidt), a World War I German U-boat commander, is ordered to lead a mission to attack the British Fleet at Scapa Flow. He sneaks ashore on the Orkney Islands to meet his contact, Frau Tiel (Valerie Hobson). Tiel has taken over the identity of local schoolteacher, Anne Burnett (June Duprez), who had been kidnapped by German agents. Hardt finds himself attracted to her, but Tiel shows no interest. The Germans are aided by a disgraced Royal Navy officer, the former Commander Ashington (Sebastian Shaw) who, according to Tiel, has agreed to aid the Germans after losing his command due to drunkenness, and Tiel implies that she has slept with Ashington to obtain his cooperation.
