Kate McKinnon Berthold (born January 6, 1984), commonly known as Kate McKinnon, is an American actress, voice actress, and comedian. She is best known for her sketch comedy work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and The Big Gay Sketch Show.

McKinnon is known for her strong character work and celebrity impressions. She is known for her impressions of pop singer Justin Bieber, comedian and television host Ellen DeGeneres, politician Hillary Clinton and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. She has been nominated for three Primetime Emmys, two for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and one for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

Biography

McKinnon naît dans l'État de New York, fille d'une enseignante et d'un architecte. Sa petite sœur, Emily, est aussi comédienne. Son père meurt quand McKinnon a 18 ans.

McKinnon joue de la guitare, du piano, et du violoncelle depuis petite. Elle termine ses études en théâtre à l'université Columbia en 2006. Juste après, elle devient membre de la série The Big Gay Sketch Show. Depuis 2008, elle fait de la comédie avec le groupe Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre à New York. En 2013, elle commence sa carrière à la télévision avec le Saturday Night Live, émission dans laquelle elle fait notamment des imitations de Hillary Clinton, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Angela Merkel, Marina Chapman, Julian Assange, Brigitte Bardot, Susan Boyle ou encore Justin Bieber. Elle parle souvent de son chat, Nino Positano.
