Dauntless leader Eric and his platoon search through the wreckage of Abnegation for a box of unknown origin that contains the symbols for each faction. They recover the box and take it to Erudite. Jeanine claims it contains data from the city's founders and the means to end the Divergence problem–the issue of individuals having the qualities of multiple factions. Roddy St. James (Hugh Jackman) is a decidedly upper crust pet rat who makes his home in a posh Kensington flat. While his owners are away on holiday Roddy plays around the house. A common sewer rat named Sid (Shane Richie) comes spewing out of the sink and decides to stay, especially as England are playing against Germany in the World Cup final. Roddy schemes to get rid of Sid by luring him into the "jacuzzi", which is actually the toilet. Sid isn't fooled at all and instead pushes Roddy in and flushes him away into the sewer. There, Roddy discovers a city resembling London made out of various bits of junk, and meets Rita Malone (Kate Winslet), an enterprising scavenger rat who works the drains in her faithful boat, the Jammy Dodger. Rita does not like Roddy initially, but ends up taking him along, while her arch enemy The Toad (Ian McKellen) sends his rat henchmen, Spike (Andy Serkis) and Whitey (Bill Nighy), after her because she had stolen back her father's prized ruby a long time ago. The Toad despises all rodents to the point of hateful obsession. He plans to have them frozen with liquid nitrogen inside an icemaker. The pair escape, and Rita takes a unique electrical cable that, unknown to everyone but the Toad, is required to control the floodgates., 1h50

The film is divided into three acts set in the lead-up to key product launches hosted by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs (Fassbender). The first depicts Jobs and marketing executive Joanna Hoffman (Winslet) dealing with problems before the Apple Macintosh launch in 1984. The computer's voice demo will not say "hello", and Jobs demands engineer Andy Hertzfeld (Stuhlbarg) fixes it, threatening to publicly humiliate him in the presentation. Hertzfeld finally suggests faking the demo using the prototype 512k computer. Meanwhile, Jobs rants about a Time magazine article that exposed his paternity dispute with ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan (Waterson): Jobs denies he is the father of Brennan's five-year-old daughter, Lisa. Brennan arrives with Lisa to confront Jobs; she is bitter over his denials and his refusal to support her despite his wealth. Jobs bonds with Lisa over her MacPaint art and agrees to provide more money and a house, though he still denies his fatherhood. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (Rogen) wishes Jobs well and asks him to acknowledge the Apple II team in his remarks, but Jobs refuses. Flashbacks show the two creating the Apple II, revealing that Wozniak's ideas made the product successful. Jobs then discusses company politics with CEO John Sculley (Daniels); they talk about Jobs' life as an adopted child, and Jobs admits that his need for control stems from his feelings of powerlessness in being given up., 1h19
