Nissankara Savitri (6 December 1936 – 26 December 1981) was an Indian film actress, director and producer. She appeared in Telugu as well as Tamil, Kannada and Hindi language films. In 1960, she received the Rashtrapati Award for her performance in the Telugu film Chivaraku Migiledi.

Biography

Savitri was married to Gemini Ganesan in 1952. Her marriage became public when she signed in a photo for a Lux advertisement as Savithri Ganesh three years later. They had two children, Vijaya Chamundeswari and Sathish Kumar.

She died on 26 December 1981 .

Krishna Murthy (Rajendra Prasad) is son of industrialist Satyanarayana (Nutan Prasad). Satyanarayana is worried about Krishna Murthy's marriage, so much so that he imagines every young woman who happened to be seen by him as his daughter-in-law. Krishna Murthy meets Padma (Rajani) in his friend's marriage and cupid strikes them. Krishna Murthy is afraid of revealing his love for Padma to his father directly as he fears his father may reject it out rightly. His initial attempts to reveal his love life to his father through letters are thwarted by his butler in fear for Satyanarayana's life. Desperate to reveal the love matter to Satyanarayana, Krishnamurthy then tries various gimmicks and at last is successful. A panicked Satyanarayana inquires about the family background of Padma and finds out that she is the daughter of Lakshmipathy (Kota Srinivasa Rao), a noted miser in his village. Aware of his father's concerns, Krishnamurthy reassures Satyanarayana and lands in Lakshmipathy's house posing as a miser. Krishnamurthy's pretense and pranks beget intended effect in Lakshmipathy and brings him closer to Padma. A marriage proposal from Sudhakar (Subhaleka Sudhakar), who is accompanied by his two glutton brothers much to the chagrin of Lakshmipathy, for Padma ends in Lakshmipathy favoring Krishnamurthy. Elated with the turn of events, Krishnamurthy prepares for marriage with Padma and invites Satyanarayana. However, his plans turn soar as Lakshmipathy, in his greed for money, abuses Krishnamurthy assuming that he is from poor family, before Satyanarayana confronts Lakshmipathy. A dejected Krishnamurthy requests Satyanarayana to give him one more chance to teach Lakshmipathy a lesson. Krishnamurthy, along with 'aragundu' Brahmanandam (Brahmanandam), a disgruntled butler of Lakshmipathy set about to transform Lakshmipathy. Krishnamurthy tacitly arranges for three different marriage proposals, starting with Sudhakar, with each proposer agreeing to offer more bride price than the earlier proposer. Overcome with greed for money, Lakshmipathy agrees to get her daughter married with each one of them. At the time of marriage with the bridegroom who offered the highest bride price, the other two bridegrooms also appear at the same time and question Lakshmipathy. An embarrassed Lakshmipathy is censured by Padma for his greed.

Orphaned and abused at a very young age, a young boy, Vijay struggles to make a living by slaving day and night, working in the house of a wealthy man named Ranga Rao (Kanta Rao). Ranga Rao does not like him. It is later revealed that another orphan had taken advantage of his kindness in the past, hence his animosity. Ranga Rao's young daughter Sujata, however, empathizes with the boy and they form a friendship. Eventually, he is adopted by a woman who also works for Ranga Rao. On the occasion of Sujata's birthday, Vijay who promised to replace one of her dolls which he had broken, steals an expensive doll from a shop to give as a gift. However, Ranga Rao refuses to let the boy attend the party and when Vijay breaks into Sujata's room to deliver the doll he is caught and accused of trying to rob the house. He and his mother are banished from Ranga Rao's home. Shortly thereafter, the mother dies, leaving young Vijay with the responsibility of looking after her daughter.

Raja was adopted by a criminal don (Ashok Kumar) at a very young age. After the death of the don, Raja inherits the property, and refrains from crime. However, the wealth and the power associated with it, make him arrogant. He desires Radha, the daughter of his servant, Ramu, and Raja asks his permission to marry her, Ramu accepts, but Radha refuses as she loves Kishan. Raja finds out that Radha is meeting with Kishan on the sly, and complains to Ramu, who forbids her from meeting with Kishan. Then Raja finds out a secret from Kishan's past, meets with him, hires him, and even arranges a lavish marriage for Kishan with Radha, resulting in Kishan being indebted to Raja. Raja entrusts him with more important and responsible work, which must get Kishan to travel a lot. Kishan eventually finds out the real reason for Raja's kindness.

The movie name, meaning a square inside a circle, symbolizes the situation of the character Anu's (Latha) life. Anu falls in love with Karthik (Sreekanth), the brother of her best friend Malathy (Sumithra) from childhood. Kartik doesn't like her, since she was born out of wedlock. Malathy has always done well in school and wishes to continue studying further. Kartik and Malathy's mother tries to get her married. Anu suggests that she could take her along to Chennai, where she could continue studying while Anu pursues a dancing career. Anu has to compromise and get along with her hotel managers to get a dancing contract to earn money to educate Malathy. Meanwhile, Malathy’s fiancée doesn't approve of her friendship with a club dancer, and asks Malathy to cut Anu out of her life. Though Malathy doesn't approve of her friend's way of earning a living, she cannot throw away 15 years of friendship. Malathy decides to cancel the marriage proposal in order to save her friendship. Anu goes to extreme measures to save her friend's love life.
