Kristina Wayborn (born Britt-Inger Johansson on 24 September 1950) is a Swedish actress who worked mostly in the United Kingdom and in the United States.

Biography

Wayborn was born Britt-Inger Johansson in Nybro, Småland, Sweden. She was Miss Sweden in 1970, and was a semi-finalist in the Miss Universe pageant that same year. She was also selected as Miss Scandinavia 1971.

Wayborn portrayed screen legend Greta Garbo in television movie The Silent Lovers (1980) which brought her to the attention of the producers of the James Bond films.

She was then cast in probably her best known role as Bond girl Magda in James Bond film Octopussy (1983). During a fight scene in this film, the act went wrong and Wayborn suffered several broken toes. She is possibly best known for her fight scene in Octopussy, in an era predating the big female action heroines of the box office. Her character Magda beat up many of Kamal Khan's guards, showing a surprising agility and acumen for martial arts.

She subsequently appeared in a number of American television series such as The Love Boat, Airwolf, MacGyver, Dallas, General Hospital, Designing Women, Baywatch and That '70s Show, which reunited her with her Octopussy co-star Maud Adams.

MI6 immediately suspects Soviet involvement and, after seeing the real egg appear at an auction in London, sends James Bond—agent 007—to investigate and find out who the seller is. At the auction Bond is able to swap the real egg with the fake and engages in a bidding war with exiled Afghan prince Kamal Khan, forcing Khan to pay £500,000 for the fake egg. Bond escapes with his Indian colleague Vijay, evading Khan's bodyguard Gobinda's attempts to kill them both. Bond is seduced by one of Khan's associates, Magda, and notices that she has a blue-ringed octopus tattoo. Magda steals the real Fabergé egg fitted with a listening device by Q, while Gobinda captures Bond and takes him to Khan's palace.
