Laurence Trimble (February 15, 1885 – February 8, 1954) was an American silent film actor, writer and director. Trimble began his career as an actor in the 1910 silent Saved by the Flag. He made 100 silent films between 1908 and 1926. Trimble was best known for his films starring his dogs, Jean, the Vitagraph Dog, and later Strongheart.

Trimble was born in Robbinston, Maine, and in 1908 he sold an animal story to a magazine in New York. The magazine referred him to Vitagraph Company to write a story about making films. Trimble became a member of the Vitagraph company and both he and his dog Jean were employed as actors. His dog became Jean the Vitagraph Dog, the first canine to have a leading role in motion pictures.

Jean died in 1916, and Trimble and his wife Jane Murfin found another dog on a trip to Germany. They purchased a German shepherd police dog named Etzel von Oeringen that would become more successful. They changed his name to Strongheart and he became the first major canine film star. After his marriage to Murfin ended, Trimble later married, in 1941, Marion Blackton, a daughter of one of Vitagraph's founders J. Stuart Blackton. They had one daughter.

Trimble ended his film career in 1926 and died in 1954 in Woodland Hills, California.

As described in a film magazine, Marshall Strong (Lewis) and John Moore (Playter) are partners in a mine and both love school teacher Constance Harvey (Turner). She prefers Strong, but Moore is crafty and she marries him. Moore is killed in a bar fight and Strong, who had come to the rescue, is accused of murder. Twenty years later Strong, calling himself Mark Smith, is a wealthy mine operator and he and Lilas have a daughter Nancy (Brent). Constance is still a widow and her son David Moore (Greene) gets a job working at the mine and meets Nancy. Mark Smith does not take proper safety precautions for the mine workers and there is discontent. David is a power for good sense and moderation, and the mine owner trusts him. Nancy's mother Lilas has arranged an engagement for her daughter to an English baronet, Sir Horace Seaton (Hyde). There is an explosion at the mine, and David and Sir Horace rush to the burning mine and try to rescue Mark and the other miners. They pass through a long galley in flames, but are not successful.
