In the Salton Sea, an underwater earthquake causes a crevice to open, releasing prehistoric giant mollusks. After a fatal car crash in Lordsburg, New Mexico, investigators find a mysterious machine component that they turn over to the nearby Los Alamos National Laboratory for identification. Scientists there declare that it is one component of an advanced portable nuclear weapon designed by an unknown, presumably hostile power. The discovery prompts Paul Reagan (Richard Denning), chief of the Security Investigation Division (SID), to send agent John Williams (John Ireland) to investigate the source of these components and to prevent them from being assembled into a functioning weapon. As more parts are smuggled into the United States, the investigation expands and a pattern begins to emerge which points to Marseilles, France.

Quelques années après la guerre de Sécession, en Arizona, Jennifer Ballard voyage de la Géorgie à la Californie à bord d'une diligence dans le but de retrouver son fiancé Ben Warren. Ben, impatient de retrouver sa fiancée, est déjà là. Slayton, attiré par Jennifer, est ennuyé par l'arrivée de Ben, mais les invite néanmoins à dîner. Lorsque la conversation vient à porter sur la guerre, Ben, lui aussi un ancien Confédéré, déclare préférer désormais les compromis et la paix. Le lendemain matin, la diligence repart, mais les soldats qui l'escortent sont en fait des hommes de Slayton. En plein milieu du désert, ils arrêtent la voiture et tuent le conducteur. Slayton dévoile alors sa véritable identité et, lorsque Ben tente de s'interposer, lui tire dessus, le laissant pour mort. Les hors-la-loi partent alors avec l'argent et emmènent Jennifer avec eux. Plus tard, après que Jess a mis en doute la nécessité d'emmener Jennifer, Slayton le fait ligoter et le laisse en plein soleil avant de partir. Pendant ce temps, Ben a repris ses esprits et, après avoir retrouvé un des chevaux de l'attelage, suit la piste des bandits jusqu'à leur cachette, où il trouve Jess, inconscient. Il le ranime et apprend que le gang est en route pour leur cachette au Mexique. Ils partent à leur poursuite, bientôt rejoints par Johash, un Indien dont la sœur est morte à cause de Slayton.

The film centers around a professional ice hockey team called the Red Devils who are in the midst of an extended losing streak. The losing streak is due to the team's proprietor Jack Monohan (Steve Brodie) taking bribes from gamblers. The team receives fresh hope in the form of a new player, Mike Connors (Stanley Clements). Mike is an arrogant and self-assured man, who is also Jack's former childhood friend. His talent helps the team regain their formerly winning ways. However, the new star quickly becomes disliked for his egocentric attitude and playing style. Matters worsen when Jack's sister Margaret (Barbara Bestar) becomes attracted in Mike. This romantic interest leads to an out-and-out brawl between the two men. The fight is stopped after a local drifter named Brutus steps in but tragically is stabbed by Mike. The situation takes a turn for the worse when an angered Mike takes a bribe - to throw the extremely important final game - from a gambler named Rocky Gibraltar (Lyle Talbot). Fortunately, during the game, Mike sees sense with the help of a young, admiring fan named Davey (Duncan Richardson). He helps win the game.
