Her parents Satu Repo and George Martell were founding editors of This Magazine Is About Schools, an influential independent Canadian magazine now known as "This".

Her Gemini award was for her 1998 performance in Nights Below Station Street.
She has had two other Gemini nominations for appearances on This is Wonderland and Flashpoint.

She played Mrs. Genest, estranged wife of Joe Genest (Stephen Baldwin) in the 2006 Jesse Stone: Night Passage made-for-TV-movie.

On September 11, 2001, as information seeps out about the 9/11 attacks on America, the FAA begins directing all remaining aircraft in the air to nearby airports, completely clearing the skies. A total of 39 transatlantic flights at or near their "point of no return" (AKA point of safe return) are diverted to the nearest airport in Canada, Gander, Newfoundland. The anxious passengers leaving on business and vacation trips have no idea why their flights are being sent to a remote town in Canada. With wild rumours spreading, one British airliner's crew tells the passengers what is known, that a terrorist attack has taken place in the United States.

The plot follows the two characters who have recently married and are going to Niagara Falls on their honeymoon. Lars Lindstrom (Gosling) lives in the converted garage behind the house he and his brother Gus (Schneider) inherited from their late father. Karin (Mortimer) is Lars's pregnant sister-in-law. Her persistent attempts to lure him into the house for a family meal are usually rebuffed, and on the rare occasions he accepts, their conversation is stilted and he seems eager to leave as soon as he can. The young man avoids social contact, finding it difficult to interact with or relate to his family, co-workers or fellow parishioners in the church he regularly attends. Margo (Garner), Lars' co-worker, is clearly interested in him, but Lars avoids anything more than brief encounters with her.
