She started in a range of drama series and films, including Wansapanataym (2011), Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo (2012), Maalaala Mo Kaya (2012), She's the One (2013), Must Be... Love (2013), and Got to Believe (2013). She is known for playing the protagonist Maria Agnes Calay in the hit romantic comedy Television series Forevermore. She has then starring in the films Just The Way You Are based on the Wattpad book, The Bet and Everyday I Love You alongside her on-screen love partner Enrique Gil.

Soberano was born in Santa Clara, California to a Filipino father, John Castillo Soberano, and American mother, Jacqulyn Elizabeth Hanley. She was raised in Visalia, California by her paternal grandparents when her parents separated. In 2008 at the age of ten, she moved to Manila, Philippines to live with her father and relatives. On the way one of her car tires got flat, and it began to rain. David (Enrique Gil) saw her fixing her car, and took a video of it. David fell in love with her instantly, and he posted the video on the internet entitled "Girl in the Rain". The video became popular. David's best friend, Gillian (Liza Soberano) does not want him to meet the "Girl in the Rain". Wacky helps David look for the girl, not knowing that it is Cat. Elsewhere, Cat's mentally challenged sister watches the video and points out that it is Cat. At first, Wacky couldn't convince Cat to meet with David but eventually, Cat relented.
