Daanish (Dhanush), born mute in rural Igatpuri, loves films. He acts out scenes before his class, amazing his peers and teacher, and spends all his time in the local Paradise theatre. He even tries to board a Mumbai bus to go become a film star but is pulled off by his mother's friends. When he grows up, Daanish brings pakodas to the local video-store owner and watches films every day. In this slacker bro-mantic comedy, writing partners Dulal and Mainak dream of shaking up the Bollywood film industry in India with their script Sulemani Keeda (Hindi street slang for "Pain in the Ass"). When they're being rejected by producers who refuse to read their script, they lurk around bookstores and poetry slams shamelessly hitting on girls. They find some hope when the drug addled, cat-obsessed Gonzo Kapoor, the son of a famous B movie producer, hires them to write an art house film billed as "Tarkovsky with orgies" for his directorial debut. The film opens by showing a large crowd waiting for Rahul Jaykar (Aditya Roy Kapoor) – a successful musician whose career is waning because of his alcohol addiction – to perform at a stage show in Goa. After nearly completing a song, he is unexpectedly interrupted by Aryan (Salil Acharya), who was losing his career due to Rahul's, during his performance. Rahul fights him, stops his performance, and drives to a local bar. He meets Aarohi (Shraddha Kapoor), a bar singer who idolizes Rahul. After noticing Aarohi looking at a photograph of Lata Mangeshkar in the bar, he assumes that she wants to become a singer. Impressed by her simplicity and voice, Rahul promises to transform her into a singing sensation, and asks her to never perform again in bars. Aarohi leaves her job and returns to Mumbai with Rahul, who convinces record producer Saigal (Mahesh Thakur) to meet her. When Aarohi calls Rahul, he is attacked and injured by some thugs, and is unable to receive her call. His friend and manager Vivek (Shaad Randhawa)says that news of Rahul's accident should not be leaked to the media, and instead publicises a false story that Rahul has left the country to participate in stage shows. When Aarohi attempts to contact Rahul again, Vivek ignores the calls. After two months of fruitlessly attempting to contact Rahul, a broken Aarohi is forced to sing in bars again because of her family problems.

Ce film s'inspire de l'histoire vraie du meurtre de Jessica Lall, tuée d'une balle dans la tête en pleine soirée people à Delhi, le 29 avril 1999 pour la seule raison qu'elle refusa de servir un verre au fils d'un politicien. Malgré les 12 témoins, l'énergie de Sabrina, la sœur de Jessica pour obtenir justice et après 7 ans de procès, le meurtrier, Manu Sharma est acquitté. Les témoins qui étaient tout d'abord prêts à témoigner vont progressivement retourner leur veste et être incapables de reconnaitre Manu comme l'auteur du coup de feu. Cette injustice criante interpelle la presse et le Times of India titre alors en février 2006 "No One Killed Jessica". A la même époque, sort le film, Rang de Basanti (à voir aussi), qui appelle le citoyen à ne pas se laisser faire devant les puissants corrompus et encourage chacun, individuellement, à agir pour changer le système.

Three individuals - Akshay (Tusshar Kapoor), Mr. Joshi (Anupam Kher) and Lambodar Jha(Rajpal Yadav) have their own share of troubles as a common man. Varsha has been brought up in an orthodox Hindu family, and has been taught to treat her husband as her God. When she marries influential politician, Bittu Singh, she decides to be the ideal Hindu wife and becomes his shadow, bowing down to his every command. When the time for election comes, Bittu prepares himself for an election in which he may become the Chief Minister of the State, while a pregnant Varsha prepares herself for mother-hood. When Bittu asks Varsha to accompany him to one of his speeches, she agrees to do so. On the way there they are attacked, their driver is killed, Bittu and Varsha are assaulted, and as a result loses her child. Bittu wins the elections and becomes the State's new Chief Minister, leaving Varsha in hospital to deal with her loss and mental agony. When Varsha recovers, she returns to Bittu, who now resides in a palatial home, and once she settles down, she demands that he bring their assailants to justice. A man named Shiva is arrested, he confesses, and is sentenced to several years in jail. Then Varsha meets with a young journalist named Sanjay, and it is this meeting that will change her life and her way of thinking forever, as well as bring her face to face with the very people who were responsible for the loss of her child.

The story follows Simran (Mallika Sherawat), a young woman married to Sudhir (Ashmit Patel), a workaholic and ex-husband of her dead sister. Simran married Sudhir in order to give motherly love to Sudhir and Sonia's(Sister of Simran) son. Due to her lonely, passionless married life, she begins an affair with her college love, Sunny (Emraan Hashmi), whom she accidentally meets. Sunny came in Simran's life after many years. She starts telling lies to Sudhir so as to meet Sunny daily. She gets so engrossed in their affair that she forgets all her commitments as a wife and mother, and she realises that it is grossly wrong. She decides to end the affair but, to her surprise, she finds another woman named Radhika with him. Simran then realises the mistake of sleeping with Sunny just because of an unhappy marital life.
