Mahesh Manjrekar (Marathi: महेश मांजरेकर) (born 13 May 1953) is a Marathi director, actor, writer and producer. He is credited with directing the critically acclaimed films Vaastav: The Reality (1999), Astitva (2000) and Viruddh... Family Comes First (2005). He has won a National Film Award and two Star Screen Awards. Besides direction, he has acted in several films, including some of his own productions. He first gained acclaim as an actor for his performance in the 2002 film Kaante, and later played negative roles in the Telugu film Okkadunnadu (2007) and as the gangster Javed in the film Slumdog Millionaire (2008). He played the role of Shivaji Maharaj in Marathi film Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy. He also played the role of Harpist Dongara in the Aakhri Chunauti series of episodes in C.I.D.. Manjrekar has also won million hearts by his acclaimed negative role as inspector D.R. Talpade in the movie Wanted starring superstar Salman Khan. He was also suspected to have links with the Mumbai underworld and was questioned by the police. He was a MNS Candidate from Mumbai North West in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections but lost to Gajanan Kirtikar of Shiv Sena.

Au début du XVIII siècle, le Chhatrapati Shahu (Mahesh Manjrekar) requiert les services d'un nouveau peshwa, réel détenteur du pouvoir politique et militaire dans l'Empire marathe. Bien que Panth Pratinidhi (Aditya Pancholi) se désigne pour assurer cette fonction, le ministre Ambaji Panth (Milind Soman) choisit de nommer le jeune Bajirao (Ranveer Singh). Afin de tester sa sagesse spirituelle et sa maîtrise des armes, Silpa défie Bajirao de sectionner une plume de paon avec une flèche. Bajirao réussit et se voit attribuer le titre de Shrimant Peshwa. The movie starts off with 4 friends Kalim (Angad Bedi), Gautam (Neil Bhoopalam), Maya (Kangana Ranaut) and Abhay (Randeep Hooda) starting a gang called the "Ungli" gang which fights against corruption. Their job is to bug corrupt people and teach them moral lessons quite unconventionally. They target a corrupt minister and become the most wanted people in Mumbai. Their case is the responsibility of ACP Ashok Kale (Sanjay Dutt), whose pal Nikhil Abhyankar (Emraan Hashmi) shortly joins the gang. But soon, after he faces trouble, Kaale is compelled to seek help from the gang when Nikhil helps him expose the gang's greatest target, B.R. Dayal (Mahesh Manjrekar) and his son Anshuman. Kaale instigates a sting operation against the Mumbai police and is successful in preventing his transfer. Kaale thanks the "Ungli" gang and he assures them that the city won't need an "Ungli" gang as long as the administrations are running properly in accordance to public demands.
