Maren Ade (born 12 December 1976) is a German film director, screenwriter and producer.
Ade studied at the University of Television and Film in Munich. Her graduation film, The Forest for the Trees, premiered at the 2003 Hof Film Festival, and went on to win the Special Jury Prize for World Cinema at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Her second feature, Everyone Else, debuted at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival, where it was awarded the Jury Grand Prix and the Best Actress Silver Bear for Birgit Minichmayr.
Ade teaches screenwriting at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg. She lives in Berlin.
Everyone Else, son deuxième film, a été sélectionné en compétition au Festival de Berlin et a remporté un ours d’argent (grand prix du jury) ainsi que l’ours d’argent de la meilleure actrice pour Birgit Minichmayr. Everyone Else a été distribué dans 18 pays. Mais Maren Ade n’est pas seulement productrice de ses propres films, elle produit également d’autres films. Elle vit avec le réalisateur Ulrich Köhler et ses enfants à Berlin.
