Olive Marie Osmond (born October 13, 1959) is an American singer, film screenwriter, actress, doll designer, and a member of the show business family the Osmonds. Although she was never part of her family's singing group, she gained success as a solo country music artist in the 1970s and 1980s. Her best known song is a cover of the country pop ballad "Paper Roses." From 1976 to 1979, she and her singer brother Donny Osmond hosted the TV variety show Donny & Marie.

Biography

Osmond has been married three times, to two different men. She remarried her first husband, Stephen Lyle Craig, in 2011, after divorcing her second husband.

Osmond first married Craig, a Brigham Young University basketball player, in 1982. Their only child, Stephen James Craig, was born on April 20, 1983, and they divorced in 1985.

On October 28, 1986, Osmond married Brian Blosil. Osmond and Blosil had two children, Rachael Lauren (b. August 19, 1989) and Matthew Richard (b. July 6, 1999), and also adopted five children:

Jessica Marie (b. December 17, 1987)
Michael Bryan (May 4, 1991– February 26, 2010)
Brandon Warren (b. November 1996)
Brianna Patricia (b. November 19, 1997)
Abigail Olive May (b. September 5, 2002).
In 1999, Osmond revealed that she suffered from severe postpartum depression. She co-authored a book called Behind the Smile with Marcia Wilkie and Dr. Judith Moore which chronicles her experiences with the illness. In August 2006, it was suggested by several U.S. tabloids that she had attempted suicide. These reports were denied by her publicity team, which claimed she had suffered an adverse reaction to a medication she was taking.

On March 30, 2007, Osmond and Blosil announced they were divorcing.

On April 29, 2009, Osmond revealed that her oldest daughter, Jessica, is a lesbian and had been living in Los Angeles with her girlfriend. In interviews Osmond has expressed support for her daughter and for same sex marriage rights, and in 2010 was named Grand Marshal of the Ogden Gay Pride Parade. In 2013 Marie is quoted in the Huffington Post stating that civil rights needs to be for all.

On February 26, 2010, Osmond's son Michael committed suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of his apartment building in Los Angeles. He reportedly battled depression for most of his life and had been in rehabilitation at the age of 12. The autopsy released on April 21, 2010 revealed that no drugs were found in his system.

On May 4, 2011, Osmond remarried first husband, Craig, in a small ceremony in the Las Vegas Nevada Temple wearing her dress from the 1982 wedding.

On September 24, 2011, Marie's son Stephen James married Claire Olds. Osmond announced on The Talk on June 25, 2013, that Stephen and Claire were expecting their first child together, a son on December 26, 2013. Stephen and Claire's son Stephen James Craig, Jr., arrived one week early on the night of December 18, 2013, officially making Osmond a grandmother.

On Christmas Day 2012, Rachael Blosil married Gabriel Krueger, a Las Vegas-based fashion designer, in a Park City, Utah cabin. In 2015, Rachel and Gabriel welcomed their first child, a daughter, Rocket Jade.

Marie Osmond is a member of the Republican party. However, she has stated that she is not a political person.

In 1818, two mouse musicians named Buster and Chauncey visit the Alpine town of Oberndorf, Austria, where they plan to perform for the country's Queen during its annual Christmas pageant, which is organized by Oberndorf's Mayor Huffenmeier. At Oberndorf, an orphan girl named Christina is given asylum on the local church as she intends to go to Vienna where her aunt and uncle live, but a pair of thieves, the Duke of Raoche and his niece Lady Gretchen, who claim to be watching over the preparations for the pageant, have their sights set on seizing the riches stored inside the church. Buster and Chauncey also get settled in the church for the preparations, but a cat chases them causing a mess inside the church that Mayor Huffenmeier blames Christina for, but the church priest, Father Joseph, doesn't think Christina caused the mess. However, the Duke and Lady Gretchen manage to steal the riches and also kidnap Christina, leaving her necklace on the place where the riches were so Father Joseph and Mayor Huffenmeier believe she stole them. Buster and Chauncey later help Christina escape and the Duke and Lady Gretchen are caught, with the riches being recovered, proving that Christina is innocent all along, but the previous chase caused damage to the church's organ. Later on, the melody Chauncey has been playing repeatedly on his violin inspires the organist. Father Joseph, who has written a poem, uses the melody to compose "Silent Night" and perform it for the first time. The Queen then offers to take Christina to Vienna and Christina says goodbye to her new friends, Buster and Chauncey.

The Sultan of Zanzibar has a harbor infested with sharks, which makes it impossible for ships to trade with him. In an attempt to fix the problem, he brings twelve hippos into the harbor to keep the sharks away. His idea works well enough, but once the hippos are no longer a novelty and the people no longer feed them, they begin to starve. After the hungry hippos rampage through the city looking for food, Aban-Khan, the king's adviser, slaughters all the hippos except one, a little hippo named Hugo. Hugo escapes across the sea to the city of Dar es Salaam, on the African mainland.
