Marius Weyers (né le 3 février 1945 à Johannesburg) est un comédien sud-africain plus particulièrement connu pour son rôle d'Andrew Steyn dans les dieux sont tombés sur la tête.

Biography

Originaire d'une famille afrikaner, Weyers a grandi dans un milieu modeste de la région de Pretoria.

Il suit des cours de théâtre à l'âge de 19 ans, fréquente des milieux intellectuels anglophones et signe une pétition en faveur d'Athol Fugard. Devenu critique de la politique d'apartheid, il ne fait pas de militantisme politique et poursuit une carrière théâtrale et cinématographique, commencé durant son service militaire.

Suite au succès du film les dieux sont tombés sur la tête de Jamie Uys (1980), il entame une carrière internationale, tournant à Hollywood dans des films généralement centrés sur l'Afrique du Sud.

En 2011, il retrouve la comédienne Sandra Prinsloo dans la série Hartland dans laquelle il joue le rôle de Jan Cilliers.

Andre Stander is an officer with the South African Police, newly married with a reputation as the youngest captain on the force, he and his partner are assigned along with other officers to riot duty in the wake of the Soweto uprising. One day on his lunch break Stander decides to spontaneously walk in and rob a bank, he thoroughly enjoys the rush and decides to embark on a spree of robberies, even responding to one in official capacity as an officer. In the wake of these robberies, Cor Van Deventer, Stander's partner, leads a team assigned to take down the new bank robber. Eventually being able to see through Stander's disguises, Deventer's team finally makes the arrest, Andre Stander is stripped of his position and sentenced to 32 years in prison.

The film revolves around the lives of the rural McDonald family.
