Ce film raconte l'épopée d'un jeune groupe de rock anglo-américain. Le personnage principal est Johnny Faust (Andy Biersack), qui vit à Columbus, dans l'Ohio avec sa mère (Denise Richards) et sa copine de longue date Gretchen (Olivia Culpo). Lui et ses amis musiciens déménagent à Los Angeles où ils rejoignent les autres membres du groupe qui viennent d'Angleterre ; ensemble, ils forment The Relentless. Après avoir fait passer des auditions afin de trouver un bassiste, ils choisissent une jeune femme prénommée Lily (Jesse Sullivan). Un jour, le groupe est accosté par un vieil homme (Malcolm McDowell) qui affirme être le diable. Il leurs raconte qu'il peut en faire d'immenses stars de la musique s'ils décident de lui faire confiance. Julie et Jim sont deux américains faisant du tourisme à Bangkok. Ils sont très vite abordés par deux jeunes anglais avec lesquels ils sympathisent. The film follows Vincent Dooly (Andrew Bowser), an aspiring inventor who dreams of winning the Thomas Alva Edison Award for Young Inventors (or "Eddy"). Each year, he enters and each year he humiliates himself with an invention that malfunctions in one way or another. A documentary crew follows Vincent in the last year that he is eligible to compete for the award, at the same time following Martin Wooderson (Jimmi Simpson), a smug wunderkind with a long history of winning the award with dull but marketable inventions. Through the months leading up to the Eddy's, Vincent mentions (in a clandestine manner) an invention he is working on that he is sure will change his losing streak but refuses to reveal more. We meet Vincent's best friend Gunter (F. In a flashback, Deborah Myers (Sheri Moon Zombie) visits her son, a young Michael Myers (Chase Wright Vanek), at Smith's Grove Sanitarium. She gives him a white horse statuette as a gift. Michael says that the horse reminds him of a dream he had of Deborah's ghost, dressed in all white and leading a horse down the sanitarium halls toward Michael, telling him she was going to bring him home. Fifteen years later, after having shot an adult Michael (Tyler Mane), Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) is found wandering around in a state of shock by Sheriff Brackett (Brad Dourif), who takes Laurie to the emergency room. Meanwhile, the paramedics pick up the Sheriff's daughter and Laurie's friend Annie (Danielle Harris) and Michael's psychiatrist Dr. Loomis (Malcolm McDowell), who are still alive after having been attacked by Michael, and take them to the hospital. Presumed dead, Michael's body is loaded into a separate ambulance. When the driver has a traffic accident, Michael awakens and escapes the ambulance, walking toward a vision of his mother dressed in white and leading a white horse.

The film is set shortly before Christmas in the North Country of Upstate New York, near the Akwesasne ('Where the Partridge Drums') St. Regis Mohawk Reservation and the border crossing to Cornwall, Ontario. Barrow, Alaska is preparing for its annual "30 Days of Night", a period during the winter when there is a month-long polar night. As the town gets ready, a stranger rows ashore from a large ship.
