Masaaki Yuasa (湯浅 政明, Yuasa Masaaki), né le 16 mars 1965 à Fukuoka au Japon, est un réalisateur et animateur japonais.

Biography

Masaaki Yuasa est né le 16 mars 1965 à Fukuoka dans la préfecture du même nom sur l'île de Kyūshū. Il s'intéresse dès son plus jeune âge à l'animation mais ce n'est qu'après avoir vu le Château de Cagliostro de Hayao Miyazaki, alors qu'il est au collège, qu'il envisage une carrière dans l'animation. Après avoir suivi des études d'art à l'Université industrielle de Kyūshū, il intègre en 1987 le studio d'animation Ajiadō. Il travaille alors sur de nombreuses séries pour enfant très populaire dont notamment les films Doraemon et surtout sur la série Crayon Shin Chan, où son travail est particulièrement remarqué. À partir, de 1997, il travaille sur des œuvres plus expérimentaleS notamment sur Noiseman Sound Insect de Kōji Morimoto. Après avoir réalisé deux courts métrages en 1999, il participe au très remarqué Nekojiru-sō réalisé par Tatsuo Sato. En 2004, il réalise son premier film, Mind Game, au sein des studios Studio 4°C. Le film est particulièrement remarqué de par la technicité et la diversité de son animation ainsi que de par son design qualifié de rough. En 2007, il participe à l'omnibus Genius Party qui rassemble des grands noms de l'animation japonaise actuelle comme Shoji Kawamori, Shinichiro Watanabe, Mahiro Maeda ou Kōji Morimoto. Il réalise également trois séries pour les studios Madhouse : Kemonozume en 2006 et Kaiba en 2008, puis The Tatami Galaxy en 2010.

En 2013, il fonde son propre studio d'animation Science SARU. Il y produit notamment l'épisode spécial Food Chain de la série Adventure Time.

The short opens with Masked Man M taking on an extremely obese female wrestler in the ring. She traps him in her skin folds, but Masked Man M manages to escape. The obese wrestler taps out to Lady S, who kicks Masked Man M in the chest - a move he appears to greatly enjoy. This prompts him to accidentally swap out with his partner Chicken, who tries and fails to attack Lady S. She proceeds to beat him while an envious Masked Man M watches, begging for Chicken to swap out with him. Chicken succeeds, but at this point Lady S also swaps out with the obese wrestler, to his dismay. Masked Man M manages to beat the obese wrestler, which angers The Boss. He storms down to the dressing room to confront Masked Man M and Chicken, as Lady S was supposed to win the match. The Boss just barely misses the two as they flee the arena, Masked Man M carrying a box of Lady S dolls he stole.

Jizou sends a clue about a flower they must search for in order to retrieve the missing half-soul, then walks away with it.
