Matthew Doherty (born June 22, 1978 in Harvey, Illinois) is an American actor. He graduated with a Theater degree from Northwestern University in 1999, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity.
He is best known for playing the roles of Lester Averman in The Mighty Ducks trilogy (although in D1 he is referred to as Dave Averman) and William "Heed" MacKenzie in So I Married An Axe Murderer.
Matthew had a role on the TV series Boston Public, in which he shared the screen with Northwestern alum Jeri Ryan.
He did a commercial in which he parodied the sound-effect featured on The Six Million Dollar Man. He is then corrected by Lee Majors, who played the titular character.
Matthew is a graduate of Thornwood High School, a southern suburban high school in the Chicago area. While at Thornwood, Matt played trumpet in the school's band. As part of Matthew's tutoring while on the set of The Mighty Ducks, he took Trumpet lessons from LA studio musicians.

Harold (Matthew Carey) is a down-on-his-luck documentary filmmaker that has been given the opportunity to shadow his former college friends, ghost hunters for the popular television show named S.P.I.T.. Intending to use any footage he shoots as a documentary, Harold is disappointed when Tim (Matt Doherty) reveals that a good chunk of the evidence collected during each investigation was planted there by their props director Bill (Lance Henriksen). In fact, everything that is seen in their show is the result of very careful planning and editing designed to get the maximum amount of entertainment per episode. However this time the group is going to investigate Hollows Grove, an abandoned orphanage where several atrocities were committed against their residents and two nurses committed suicide. Initially the group approaches the grounds with the idea that there will be no true threat to their beings, only to discover that Hollows Grove is very haunted and that their lives are very much in danger.

On November 4, 1979, Iranian activists storm the United States embassy in Tehran in retaliation for President Jimmy Carter giving the Shah asylum in the U.S. during the Iranian Revolution. More than 50 of the embassy staff are taken as hostages, but six avoid capture and hide in the home of Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor. With the escapees' situation kept secret, the U.S. State Department begins to explore options for exfiltrating them from Iran. Tony Mendez, a U.S. Central Intelligence Agency exfiltration specialist, is brought in for consultation. He criticizes the proposals, but is at a loss when asked for an alternative. While on the phone with his son, he is inspired by watching Battle for the Planet of the Apes and begins plans for creating a cover story for the escapees: that they are Canadian filmmakers who happened to be in Iran scouting exotic locations for a similar science-fiction film.

The film opens as the Ducks are being awarded junior varsity hockey scholarships to Eden Hall Academy, a prestigious prep school that coach Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) attended. Bombay announces that he will be leaving his position as coach to take a job with the Junior Goodwill Games, much to Charlie's dismay. Bombay's spot is filled by former Minnesota North Stars player Ted Orion (Jeffrey Nordling). Initially the Ducks clash with Orion's disciplinary coaching tactics and his focus on defense over scoring. Orion abandons several Duck traditions and strips Charlie Conway (Joshua Jackson) of his Captain's 'C', stating that the tricks and tactics the team used in the Pee Wee league won't work at this level. He is proven right when, in their first game of the season, the Ducks take an embarrassing tie after losing a 9-goal lead. Orion is livid, but makes a valid point (about hockey and life) when he states that the Ducks won't be able to dominate every game and have to learn how to play "two-way hockey," not choking when the game isn't going their way. Charlie's only consolation is meeting Linda (Margot Finley), a young student petitioning to change the school's team name (The Warriors) as it perpetuates an offensive Native American stereotype. Though she initially writes him off as a mindless jock, the two start to hit it off.

Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) is a successful Minneapolis defense attorney of the Ducksworth, Saver & Gross firm, who never loses a case but whose truculent courtroom antics have earned him no respect among his peers. After successfully defending a client resulting in his 30th win, Bombay is called into his boss's office to be congratulated, but also chastised for embarrassing the judge. Regardless, he celebrates by going out drinking and is subsequently arrested for drunken driving. Bombay is sentenced to community service by coaching the local "District 5" PeeWee hockey team. Bombay has a history with the sport, although his memories are far from pleasant: Years ago, Bombay was the star player on the Hawks, but he missed a penalty shot in the championship game, costing his team the title for the first time and disappointing his hyper-competitive coach, Jack Reilly (Lane Smith).

The story begins in 1902 in Baltimore, Maryland, where a seven-year-old Babe Ruth, troubled and not-so disciplined, is sent to the St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, a reformatory and orphanage. Ruth is sent by his father, George Herman Ruth Sr. (Bob Swan), who cannot handle raising the boy. Ted Forrest who works for the Dynasty Card Company is murdered by Keith Heading and his men on the street, they switch the tape before police arrive. Johnny Stewart (Wayans) is a lifelong con-man who meets a girl, Amber Evans (Dash), and tries to impress her by cleaning up his act and doing things the honest way. He becomes a mailroom clerk at the credit card firm where she works and soon finds that he needs money to impress Amber. So, he develops a scheme to commit identity theft (though this term was not used for the crime in 1992) with the credit card information of deceased cardholders that he has access to due to his mailroom position. He justifies his actions because he knows that he is only stealing from the company and not harming the individual cardholders. Chris Fields trains Johhny how to do the job,until Keith threatens Chris in the men's restroom making him feel scared. Lt Walsh asks Chris questions about Keith,Chris is stabbed and killed by Keith's hitman in the subway station. Lt Walsh investigates Chris's murder and find credit card receipts on him. Keith promotes Johnny from mailroom clerk to supervisor to replace Chris who was killed.

The night before their flight to Paris for a Christmas holiday, the McCallister family gather at the Winnetka, Illinois home of Peter (John Heard) and Kate (Catherine O'Hara) McCallister. Their 8-year-old son, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), is ridiculed by his siblings and cousins. After a fight with his older brother, Buzz (Devin Ratray), Kevin is sent to the third floor of the house, where he wishes that his family would disappear. During the night, a power outage resets the alarm clocks and causes the family to oversleep. In the confusion and rush to reach their flight on time, Kevin is left behind and the family is unaware until they are already airborne. Once in Paris, Peter and Kate try to book a flight home, but all the flights are booked for the next two days. The clerks put Kate on standby for any possible seat opening. The rest of the family goes to Peter's brother's home in Paris, and Kevin's siblings and cousins are crushed by empathy for their abuse toward Kevin.
