Biography
Né dans l'Empire d'Autriche-Hongrie, sa famille émigre aux États-Unis alors qu'il a six ans. Sous le nom américanisé de Mike Mazurki, il débute véritablement au cinéma en 1941 (ses deux premières apparitions, dans deux petits rôles non-crédités, remontent à 1934 et 1935), dans Shanghai Gesture. En tout, il collabore à une centaine de films américains. Fait particulier, à quarante-cinq ans d'intervalle, il participe à deux films mettant en vedette le détective Dick Tracy, en 1945 (second rôle principal d'un tueur balafré, dans Dick Tracy (film, 1945)), puis en 1990 (un petit rôle, dans son avant-dernier film, également titré Dick Tracy, de et avec Warren Beatty).À la télévision, il joue dans quatre téléfilms et des séries, de 1952 à 1983.

At an illegal card game, a young street urchin (Charlie Korsmo) witnesses the massacre of a group of mobsters named Shoulders (Stig Eldred), Stooge (Jim Wilkey), the Rodent (Neil Summers), the Brow (Chuck Hicks) and Little Face (Lawrence Steven Meyers) at the hands of Flattop (William Forsythe) and Itchy (Ed O'Ross), two of the hoods on the payroll of Alphonse "Big Boy" Caprice (Al Pacino). Fictional television station WIDB-TV (channel 8) experiences problems with its late-night airing of science-fiction classic Amazon Women on the Moon, a 1950s B movie in which Queen Lara (Sybil Danning) and Captain Nelson (Steve Forrest) battle exploding volcanoes and man-eating spiders on the moon. Waiting for the film to resume, an unseen viewer begins channel surfing—simulated by bursts of white noise—through late night cable, with the various segments and sketches of the film representing the programming found on different channels. The viewer intermittently returns to channel 8, where Amazon Women continues to resume airing before faltering once more.

A man calling himself Sam Marlowe (Robert Sacchi) has his face altered to resemble that of his idol, Humphrey Bogart, and then opens a detective agency. At first he and his secretary Duchess (Misty Rowe) have meager business, but things pick up after a shooting puts Sam's picture in the paper.
