Mikkilineni (born Mikkilineni Radhakrishna Murthy) was an Indian film actor and thespian known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema. He was the founder of the theater group Praja Natya Mandali. He has received the honorary Kalaprapoorna from Andhra University, for his contributions towards Telugu theater and cinema.

Jayachandra Maharaja (Vijay Kumar) of the Chandraprabha Dynasty deserts Vasundhara (K. R. Vijaya), a woman who gives birth to his son. Vasundhara, loses the child in a cyclone while crossing a river. She is found the hermitage revives her. Vasundhara, on learning the loss of her son attempts suicide. Concerned, Jamadagni creates a mystical flower on a bush, and tells Vasundhara that the flower will be in fresh and in bloom as long as her son is alive and well. Meanwhile, the child is found by tribals and taken to their village, Kotala Kona. The village chieftain and his wife adopt the child and name him Vijay (Nandamuri Balakrishna).

Sethupathy (Kamal Haasan) is an honest and upright police officer. When he arrests four bigwigs Dharmaraj (Nagesh), Francis Anbarasu (Delhi Ganesh), Nallasivam (Nasser) and Satyamoorthy (Jaishankar), they escape justice easily and return to take revenge. They kill him and poison his wife (Srividya). She escapes and gives birth to twins with the help of another woman Muniyamma (Manorama) but the babies are separated and each woman believes that the other is dead because of the events happening next to birth. One of the twins, Raja (Kamal Haasan) grows up as a mechanic with Muniyamma, while the other twin, Appu (Kamal Haasan), a dwarf, grows up in the circus with his mother.

Vijay (Venkatesh) son of Chakrapani (Rao Gopal Rao) a multimillionaire has lot of arrogance and proud, he plays lot of mischief in college with his three friends. Bharathi (Khushboo) a middle-class girl studies in the same college. Even Vijay teases Bharathi many times even then she protects his life once, which changes his entire lifestyle and he falls in love with her. L. Narayana) commit suicide and Bharathi goes away. Vijay quarrels with his father leave the house, goes in search of Bharathi, he comes know that Bharathi is with her elder sister Krishnaveni (Saritha) and they are under protection of Retried Army Officer Bhishmanarayan (Ranganath) and he also comes know Krishnaveni is also cheated by Dr.Vaayunandan Rao and sent to jail by MLA Eekambaram and gang only.

Vairi Vijaya Venkata Lakshmi Narayana Bhupathi, father of Anand Kumar Bhupathi (Sarath Babu) was a rich man in Ooty, whose property was unjustly usurped by Puligaolla Varhavataram (M. N. Nambiar) after his death. Anand wins a legal battle against Varhavataram. Thereafter Anand has fallen in love with Maya (Silk Smita), a gold-digger working covertly for Varhavataram. Here, Anand tells his mother Rani Vijaya Durga Devi (Anjali Devi) that he is going to get married & coming back to get her blessings along with Maya. The movie starts with a panchayati scene under a tree in a village where RGR,the village head, judges a dispute between Mukkamala and a Rowdy.Mukkamala, a resident of the village, leaves it in some unknowncircumstances and returns to the village after 15 years. He learns that hisproperty (house) was owned illegally by a Rowdy and he is not willing togive the proprty back to Mukkamala. And hence the Panchayati.As usual, RGR (the Villain) supports the Rowdy and does injustice toMukkamala. Having no enough power to face the Rowdy or the village head, heagain leaves the village.

Ramu (N. T. Rama Rao) is a truck driver who gives a lift to a famous singer Rupa Devi (Sridevi) when her vehicle breaks down. They become friends. He is already in love with Tulasi (Jayasudha), whom he marries. Rupa wishes him well calling him "Nestham" (friend), even though she has fallen in love with him. Ramu has an accident, and everyone believes that he is dead. His grieving mother tells a pregnant Tulasi to go away. Upset with everything in her life, she jumps from a bridge into the water. She is saved by a young guy Prakash (Nandamuri Balakrishna) and his colony members find that she lost her sight. Thulasi gives birth to a baby girl and names her as Ramatulasi, combining her and her husband's names. Prakash gives shelter to them and threats Thulasi as his on sister. Ramu turns out to be alive and he comes to know Thulasi had committed suicide. He becomes depressed. Rupa re-enters his life and helps him overcome his depression. They get engaged. They become acquainted with Ramatulasi, now a little girl, selling little God's statutes on the street. They are completely enchanted by her, even though they don't know that she is really Ramu's daughter. Rupa meets Thulasi and tells her they'll pay for her eye operation, so she can regain her sight. Rupa also invites Thulasi to her wedding with Ramu. After she regains her sight from the operation, she goes to Rupa's wedding and is shocked to see Ramu. She quickly leaves, not wanting to disrupt Rupa and Ramu's lives. Prakash tells Ramu that Thulasi is still alive and that Ramatulasi is actually his daughter. Rupa cancels the wedding and tells him to go and reunite with his wife and daughter, which he does. Rupa goes back on stage permanently.
