Biography

Monic Hendrickx est devenue connue pour ses rôles dans la série Penoza et les films The Polish Bride et Nynke. Les deux films étaient des candidats néerlandais aux Oscars, mais n'ont reçu aucune nomination. La sœur de Paula van der Oest & Zo a été nominée en 2002 dans la catégorie meilleur film étranger, mais cet Oscar a été attribué à Nowhere in Africa (Nirgendwo in Africa). Au cours de sa carrière, elle a remporté quatre Veau d'or et plusieurs prix étrangers, dont l'Australian Inside Film Award pour son rôle dans Unfinished Sky en 2008. Pour son rôle principal dans Penoza dans Carmen van Walraven-de Rue, Monic Hendrickx a reçu son quatrième Golden Calf en 2013, cette fois dans la catégorie "Meilleure actrice dans une série dramatique".

En 2008, elle a été l'invitée d'honneur du Dutch Film Festival. En 2012, elle a joué plusieurs rôles solo dans la pièce Oxytocine, écrite par Rogier Schippers. The film is set in May 1940 in and around the city of Rotterdam, where the young bakers assistant (and aspiring amateur boxer) Vincent de Graaf meets the wealthy Eva von Heerle, the daughter of German refugees who've fled Nazi Germany. Eva is engaged to Dirk Lagerwaard, a wealthy older industrial whom she does not love, whereas Vincent wants to emigrate to the United States to find a cure for his sick brother. The two fall in love. As German troops invade the Netherlands, Vincent offers Dirk to bring Eva and her parents to Rotterdam resulting in a dangerous journey through the frontlines as Dutch and German troops clash in bitter combat. As the two reach Rotterdam, an ultimatum is delivered to the Dutch troops defending the city in which they are summoned to surrender immediately or face destruction, the Dutch soldiers refuse and Rotterdam is bombed, changing the future for everyone involved.
