Morjana Alaoui (Arabic: مرجانة العلوي‎, born 1983) is a Moroccan/American actress. She is famous for her roles in Marock and Martyrs. She emigrated to the United States. She is Laïla Marrakchi's cousin. She was born in Casablanca.

Biography

Morjana naît en 1983 et grandit à Casablanca. Elle obtient son bac à l'École Américaine de Casablanca et poursuit ses études en Floride puis à Paris. C'est à Paris qu'elle est contactée pour un casting par Laïla Marrakchi, réalisatrice du film Marock. En 2008, elle tient le rôle principal du film d'horreur franco-canadien Martyrs.

Kabul-based French journalist Elsa Casanova (Diane Kruger) writes an article about warlord Zaief (Raz Degan) and names him "the butcher of Kabul". Her informer Maina (Morjana Alaoui) warns her that Zaief is out for vengeance. Before she returns to Zaief, she bids farewell because she reckons to die by an honour killing. Elsa tries to hold her back but fails. Her friend Amen (Mehdi Nebbou) urges Elsa to leave the country, yet, agrees to help her try save Maina. Zaief ambushes and captures Elsa and Amen. Amen asks Elsa to show no fear in front of Zaief. Still, she breaks down when their friend Salemani (Greg Fromentin) gets cruelly murdered in her presence.

The film begins with a young girl, Lucie Jurin, as she escapes from a disused abattoir where she has been imprisoned and physically abused for a long period of time.
