Diana Mariam Kurian aka Nayanthara (born 18 November 1984 in Bengaluru) is an Indian film actress from Kerala, who appears in South Indian films. She made her acting debut in the 2003 Malayalam film Manassinakkare and followed with Vismayathumbathu (2004) before foraying into Tamil and Telugu cinema.
She made her debut in Tamil cinema in 2005 with Ayya and a year later in Telugu with Lakshmi, after which she was the female lead in numerous commercially successful Tamil and Telugu films, making her one of the most sought after actresses in South Indian cinema. In 2010, she also made her Kannada film debut through the Kannada-Telugu bilingual film Super, which is her only appearance in Kannada till date. Her portrayal of Sita in Sri Rama Rajyam (2011) earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress and the Nandi Award for Best Actress. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actress for her performance in Raja Rani (2013). Kochi Times listed her in the "List of 15 Most Desirable Women in 2014".
Nayantara was born and brought up as a Syrian Christian. On 7 August 2011, she converted to Hinduism at the Arya Samaj Temple in Chennai. She went through Shuddhi Karma, a procedure involving a Vedic purification and a Homam where Nayantara chanted the hymns from Veda and Gayatri Mantra under the guidance of the priest. After the purification ceremony, a Certificate of Conversion to Hinduism was issued to her and her stage name, Nayantara, became her official name. She also visited a number of holy places, including Haridwar and Rishikesh in May 2014.

Biography
Nayanthara started dating actor-director Prabhu Deva in 2008. In 2010, Prabhu Deva's wife Latha filed a petition at the family court, seeking directions against Deva from live in relationship with Nayantara and requesting a reunion with him. Furthermore, she threatened to go on hunger strike if Prabhu Deva married Nayantara, while several women's organisations conducted protests against Nayantara for bringing disrepute to Tamil culture, burning an effigy of her. In 2012, Nayantara confirmed that she had ended her relationship with Prabhu Deva.Nayantara was born and brought up as a Syrian Christian. The film starts with the murder of ex-commissioner by an escaped prisoner Kamal Ekambaram (Riyaz Khan). The story then shifts to Masilamani aka Massu (Suriya) and his friend Jet Li (Premgi Amaren) who are small-time con artists. Massu falls for Manini (Nayantara) and they subsequently fall in love. While trying to escape after a heist gone wrong, Massu and Jet meet with a car accident, post which Massu starts seeing dead people, with whom he can communicate. Jet had died in the accident and is now a ghost, too. Massu forms a group of loitering ghosts to earn money by performing fake exorcisms and extorting money from scared rich people, while promising the ghosts that he would fulfill their last wishes in return. Meanwhile, Manini who thought Massu was working in a finance company gets to know about the fake exorcisms and leaves him in a heist.

Vasanth(Aari) is an artist who is working on a story about 'Mayavanam', a haunted forest. Vasanth's boss, Ram Prasad (Amzath Khan), tells him about a book that details the life of the mentally-ill who were forced into asylums and experimented upon. Madhan (Uday Mahesh), an episode writer, recounts the story of one such inmate, a woman named Maya Matthews, who was forced to give up her new-born daughter to the authorities in the asylum. She falls to her death from the building, with an expensive ring rumored to be on her person, and is buried in the grounds of the asylum (Mayavanam), where it is believed her vengeful spirit now roams. Josutty (Dileep) is the son of Joseph and Shoshamma. He belongs to a middle class traditional Christian farmer family in Kattappana, Idukki. As a child he desired is to become a priest. Soon after the marriage, he immigrates to New Zealand with his wife. Upon reaching there, Josutty's life turns upside down. All of a sudden he realizes, he is a "total square" and that everything he believed to be true throughout life was wrong and he vows to make money. After his father's death he goes back to Kattappana facing repressed realities of emptiness in his life from the passing away of his mother, father and close friend. There he meets a door to door sales woman(Nayantara) and marries her and vows to have more children than his first love and neighbor Jessy with the intend to "live life to the fullest".

The film opens with a scene of a low-level party cadre Senkalvarayan (Thambi Ramaiah) tying a flag to a street-lamp post. Suddenly his pregnant wife gets labor pain but he completely ignores it as he is more dedicated to his leader and party than family. At the same time, the party's deputy leader (Nassar) happens to visit the locality; upon hearing his party cadre's ignorance to pregnant wife, the party leader lends his car and orders his driver to immediately take the pregnant lady to the hospital and she delivers a baby boy Pazhani /Siddharth Abhimanyu(Arvind Swamy) before they get to the hospital. When Pazhani is fifteen years old, he secures first rank in his 10th standard state exam and visits the party deputy-leader, now the chairman of the party and a member in ruling coalition for his blessings with his father. While they are waiting in the party office for the leader to come in, they witness a murder of a rebel party candidate by their own revered leader due to caste related comments by the rebel on him. When the leader asks Senkalvarayan to take the blame by saying that he killed the man due to rage on the rebel's comments, Pazhani volunteers to take the blame and willing to go to jail citing leniency of juvenile laws in exchange for an MLA seat for his father, in the upcoming by election. The deal is agreed and carried out.

There was a bomb blast in a beach at Chennai before. Anaamika, (Nayantara) an IT professional, comes to Hyderabad in search of her husband. As soon as she arrives in Hyderabad, she goes to the police station and waits to give a complaint. The police officers could not understand her language, and she couldn't theirs. One policeman in the station named Sarathy, (Vaibhav Reddy), decides to help her realizing that she spoke Tamil, as he was a Tamilian as well; and the search for her husband begins.
