Nazneen Contractor (born August 26, 1982) is a Canadian actress, best known for her role as Layla Hourani on CBC's The Border, and, more recently, as Kayla Hassan on 24 (season 8). She is of Gujarati Parsi descent.

She married fellow Canadian actor Carlo Rota on April 1, 2010.

Biography

Jeunesse
Élevé au Nigeria en Afrique jusqu'à l'âge de 7 ans. Elle est versée dans les voyages internationaux et la diversité des cultures depuis son très jeune âge.
Elle intègre une école comme pensionnaire à Londres de sept à neuf ans. Puis, sa famille se déplace à Toronto, Canada où elle a passé la majorité de son enfance et son âge adulte.Elle a un cancer à l'âge de 10 ans

Elle étudie à l'École Etobicoke des Arts, un lycée d'arts public spécialisé où elle a non seulement dansé, mais aussi étudié le théâtre.
Après ses études au lycée elle obtient une bourse complète à l'Université de Toronto, où elle a poursuivi ses études dans le théâtre et en psychologie et sociologie.


Carrière
Elle a été formée au Conservatoire de Birmingham pour la formation classique. Elle est la première femme de descendance indienne à jouer un rôle principal dans une pièce Shakespearien sur la scène principale du Festival Stratford en 51 ans de l'histoire du festival. Son premier travail professionnel de théâtre est le premier rôle féminin dans Pericles au festival Stratford.

Elle est adepte de la religion Parsis, confession dérivée du Zoroastrisme.

Elle est une fervente défenseuse d'une organisation pour alimenter les sans-abri, soutenant des femmes ayant un cancer.

Erik, a struggling musician who lives off his family's considerable wealth, clashes with his girlfriend, Anna, over what they know are trivial details in their relationship. Four years after Kirk's promotion in 2259, the starship USS Enterprise studies a primitive culture on the planet Nibiru. Captain James T. Kirk and his First Officer, Commander Spock, save the planet's inhabitants from an extinction-threatening volcanic eruption, but Kirk violates the Prime Directive, exposing the Enterprise to the native inhabitants to save Spock's life. Returning to Earth, Kirk loses command of the Enterprise and Admiral Christopher Pike is reinstated as its commanding officer with Kirk demoted to first officer and the rank of Commander. For his part in the incident, Spock is reassigned to another ship. An officers' meeting is called to discuss the bombing of a Section 31 installation in London perpetrated by the renegade Starfleet operative John Harrison (Cumberbatch). Harrison attacks the meeting in a jumpship, killing Pike. Kirk disables the jumpship, but Harrison uses a portable transporter to escape to Kronos, the homeworld of hostile aliens known as Klingons.
