Nina Dobrev (born Nikolina Konstantinova Dobreva Bulgarian: Николина Константинова Добрева; January 9, 1989) is a Bulgarian Canadian actress and model. She played the role of Mia Jones, the single teenage mother, on Degrassi: The Next Generation, in seasons six to nine (2006–09). She then played the role of Elena Gilbert on The CW's supernatural drama, The Vampire Diaries, from 2009–15.

Biography

Dobrev is close friends with her fellow The Vampire Diaries cast members Paul Wesley, Kat Graham, Candice Accola, Hillary Harley, Kayla Ewell, as well as actresses Julianne Hough and Jessica Szohr.

In September 2009, Dobrev was arrested for disorderly conduct while participating in a photo shoot over an I-75 bridge in Smarr, Georgia. She was released from the Monroe County Jail the same day after paying $1,000 bond.

In mid-2010, Dobrev began dating her co-star from The Vampire Diaries Ian Somerhalder. The couple split in May 2013. As of July 2015, Dobrev is dating actor Austin Stowell.
