Cooke has developed a close platonic relationship with Thomas Mann, her co-star in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. She is also good friends with Nicola Peltz and Freddie Highmore and regards the Bates Motel cast and crew as a family away from home. Cooke supported the Save The Children campaign by appearing in Bulgari advertisements in 2014.
