Ashwathy Kurup, better known by her stage name Parvathy, is an Indian film actress and classical dancer known for her roles in Malayalam films.
Parvathy was a popular actress in Malayalam film industry between 1986 and 1993. Her first film was directed by Lenin Rajendran but was shelved and never released. She was introduced to the industry by actor-director Balachandra Menon through Vivahitharae Ithile Ithile in 1986. Her notable works include Amrutham Gamaya, Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam, Thoovanathumbikal (1987), Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu (1989), Vadakkunokkiyantram, Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal and Kireedam (1989).
Parvathy married Malayalam film actor Jayaram in 1992, who was her co-star in many films. After marriage, Parvathy effectively quit acting in feature films. She now lives with her family in Chennai. She has two children, National Award winning child actor Kalidas Jayaram and Malavika Jayaram.
Parvathy met her future husband, Jayaram on the set of Aparan, at Udaya Studio in Thiruvananthapuram, in 1988. After her marriage on 7 September 1992, Parvathy stopped acting and later said that she has no regrets. "One spouse has to sacrifice their career, otherwise, it will be difficult to bring up the children properly. If there is a good salary earned by the husband why should the wife work?"
The couple have two children, Kalidas Jayaram and Malavika. Kalidas Jayaram won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his work in the film Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum (2003), in which he acted in along with his father, Jayaram.

Biography
Ashwathy Kurup grew up in Kaviyoor, Thiruvalla. She went to NSS Hindu College, Changanacherry. This was where she was discovered by director Lenin Rajendran who cast her as the lead role in his film. This film was shelved and was never released. She then acted in her first movie Vivahithare Ithile Ithile (1986) directed by Balachandra Menon.Parvathy met her future husband, Jayaram on the set of Aparan, at Udaya Studio in Thiruvananthapuram, in 1988. Vedivazhipadu describe the events in a time frame of 24 hours on the Pongala festival day at the Attukal Temple. Three friends, Sanjay (Saiju Kurup), Pradeep (Sreejith Ravi) and Rahul (Murali Gopy), have made secret plans for the day when their wives will be away attending the festival. Sanjay, who is a cashier in a bank, is married to Rashmi (Anusree), a bold and outgoing TV journalist who is a star in her own right. She has been covering the Pongala live for her channel. It does not take us long to guess who is the boss here. Pradeep is an investor in stocks and does his business with the help of stockbroker Joseph (Indrajith). Pradeep is married to Vidya (Mythili), a French teacher. They are mismatched, as he looks rustic and she is sophisticated. Rahul is a geeky video games tester working from home. He is married to Radhika (Anjana), a docile housewife. On the said day, the friends gather in Rahul’s apartment. They have booze and a woman (Anumol) and plans to enjoy themselves.

Nandagopan (Mohanlal) is a respected dance teacher at the Kerala Kala Mandiram (alluding to the famed Kerala Kalamandalam repertory which performs Kerala's temple arts). However, his wife Sumangala (Parvathi) commits suicide, causing the hero to turn into an alcoholic and compulsive rule breaker. He is suspected of having killed his wife and is suspended form his job for drunken misbehaviour. The new secretary of the institute Velayudhan (Nedumudi Venu) wants him to be sacked but his former reputation gives him a reprieve. After Nadodikkattu and Pattanapravesham, CIDs Ramdas and Vijayan are back for another wacky adventure. When a priceless gold crown is stolen from India, Ramdas (Mohanlal) and Vijayan (Sreenivasan) are sent to the United States to retrieve it. The only clue they have is a pseudonym ("Paul Barber") and a piece of a torn shirt. In the States, the two remain as helpless and clueless as they were in the two prequel films and realize that this is their toughest case yet. They search for Paul Barber, the real criminal, but in vain. They finally by luck retrieve the crown and all the criminals are killed in a comic shoot out between them and the CIDs. And in the end they return to India as heroes.

The comical film introduces us to a small village and its funny characters. The narrator (M. G. Soman in the prologue) informs of its developments and day-to-day activities. Soon, it slowly focus to the problems discussed in the Panchayat office (fights do occur between two factions in a comical way), in which the main problem is the absence of a veterinary doctor. The leaders of the opposition faction, Nanappan (Jagathy Sreekumar) and Uthpalakshan (Pappu), gives a final ultimatum to the Panchayat president Unnikannan Nair (Nedumudi Venu) to resign his post if he can't find a vet within days.
