Avec Lisa Azuelos, il co-réalise son premier long-métrage en 1995 Ainsi soient-elles, mené par un trio de femmes Marine Delterme, Amira Casar et Florence Thomassin.
Six ans plus tard, Alessandrin réalise 15 août mais cette fois avec un trio d'hommes : Richard Berry, Charles Berling et Jean-Pierre Darroussin ; le film rencontre le succès.
Puis deux ans après il réalise Mauvais esprit mené par Thierry Lhermitte. Le film sera un gros échec.
Il reviendra en 2008 avec la suite de Banlieue 13, Banlieue 13 ultimatum, toujours servi par les mêmes acteurs mais cette fois avec Philippe Torreton dans le rôle du président puisque le film se passe trois ans après la fin du premier opus.

Biography
Patrick Alessandrin débute dans les années 1980 comme assistant de Luc Besson sur les films Le Dernier Combat, Subway, et Le Grand Bleu.Avec Lisa Azuelos, il co-réalise son premier long-métrage en 1995 Ainsi soient-elles, mené par un trio de femmes Marine Delterme, Amira Casar et Florence Thomassin.
Six ans plus tard, Alessandrin réalise 15 août mais cette fois avec un trio d'hommes : Richard Berry, Charles Berling et Jean-Pierre Darroussin ; le film rencontre le succès.

Three years after the events of the original film, the authorities are attempting to return law and order to ravaged District 13. However, their efforts so far have failed to do so. The death of gang overlord Taha Ben Mahmoud has left a power vacuum, and total control of the area is now being fought over by five rival territorial gang lords who want to step into Taha's position. Leïto tries demolishing the walls surrounding the district on a daily basis, but is told to stop by African gang lord Molko, who sees the walls as protection from outside the district.

Vincent Porel (Thierry Lhermitte) est un homme comblé par une situation professionnelle plus que réussie, une femme qui n'existe qu'en rêve, une mère omniprésente dans sa vie ainsi qu'une collaboratrice très présente aussi... Mais ce qu'il manque à Vincent, c'est un enfant. Vincent dirige une multinationale du BTP choisie pour construire un musée. Le projet original dessiné par son architecte est en fait celui de Simon Variot (Michel Muller). Quand Simon découvre le chantier, il décide de rencontrer Porel pour faire valoir ses droits. Mais ce malheureux se fait renverser accidentellement par Porel. Simon meurt et ressuscite dans le corps du bébé de Vincent Porel. Une fois sous les traits de ce bébé, Simon va mener la vie dure à son nouveau papa.

Having stolen some compromising documents from a powerful and successful entrepreneur/gangster at a party, a man known as Fred (Lambert) escapes from the police and takes refuge in the underground world of the Paris Métro stations and tunnels. There he joins the dwellers and befriends several colourful characters, including others who are living under the subway to avoid police arrest. While the gangster's henchmen try to find Fred, he develops a romance with the gangster's young trophy wife Héléna (Adjani). She had originally invited Fred to the party featured at the opening of the film, and is bored with her gilded-caged life.

The film opens to a shot of an abandoned office, where the main character (Pierre Jolivet), who is only identified as 'The Man' in the end credits, is having intercourse with a sex doll. The Man is then seen attempting to salvage parts from abandoned vehicles, but returns to his dwelling empty handed, where he works on building a makeshift aircraft. The Man ventures outside the office building he lives in, which is surrounded by a desert wasteland. A group of men are shown surviving in the wasteland. They hold a man, 'The Dwarf' (Maurice Lamy), captive, and force him to retrieve water for them. The Man, who has been observing the survivors, makes his way to their camp, stabs their leader, 'The Captain' (Fritz Wepper) and retrieves a car battery. Survivors pursue The Man, though he is able to escape in his now completed aircraft.
