Peter Medak (born 23 December 1937) is a Hungarian-born film director and television director of British and American productions.

Roughly two years after the first film, an American space mission lands on Mars; Patrick Ross, the commander of the mission, collects soil samples. The film is based on the true story of Derek Bentley.
