Ray Stricklyn (born Lewis Raymond Stricklyn) (October 8, 1928 – May 14, 2002) was an American film actor, stage actor, television actor, soap opera star and publicist. His acting career took off with B-movie Westerns that placed his boyish good looks playing opposite top talent of the time.

Biography

Né à Houston au Texas, il va à New York en 1950 où il fait ses débuts à Broadway dans The Climate of Eden. Il va ensuite à Los Angeles en 1955 où il débute dans le cinéma dans The Proud and the Profane. Parmi ses rôles de jeunesse, il joue le rôle du fils de Bette Davis dans The Catered Affair et le fils de Gary Cooper dans 10, rue Frederick (Ten North Frederick) de Philip Dunne, qui lui apporte une nomination aux Golden Globe 1958. Après une autre nomination en 1960 pour La Rançon de la peur, sa carrière au cinéma connait un passage à vide, et il apparait dans quelques séries télévisées. Dans les années 1970 il travaille comme agent publicitaire. Il décède d'un emphysème à Los Angeles en 2002 à l'âge de 73 ans.

The film focuses on the cast and crew of a new TV series called Manhattan, which is shot on location in New York City. Mel Wexler is a successful producer who has become a workaholic since the death of his family in a plane crash. Trying to forget his loss, he throws himself on producing Manhattan. For the lead role, he tries to cast the feared film star Sabina Quarles, who has a reputation of being hard to work with. She initially declines, explaining she is too good for television. However, because of her past with Mel, she finally accepts the role. They soon start a relationship, but he remains suspicious of her constant visits to San Francisco. She is reluctant to explain why she is going there every month, which makes him think she has an affair.
