Richard Loo (October 1, 1903 – November 20, 1983) was a third generation Chinese-American film actor who was one of the most familiar Asian character actors in American films of the 1930s and 1940s. A prolific actor, he appeared in over 120 films between 1931 and 1982.

Biography

His first wife, Bessie Loo, was a well-known Hollywood agent. They had twin daughters: Beverly Loo was prominent in publishing while Angela Loo Levy was a Hollywood agent and accomplished ski patroller.

He remained with his second wife, Hope, until his death. His step-daughter, Christel Hope Mintz, was an analyst with Shell Oil Company for 32 years.

In London, a golden bullet with James Bond's code "007" etched into its surface is received by MI6. In a deliberate throwback to 1940s films noir, a former private eye from that period, Chandler, takes up his old work again, and finds himself constantly driving old cars. In 1954, a military train guarded by American soldiers and Japanese police is attacked as it travels between Kyoto and Tokyo. During the raid, which is carried out with great precision, an American sergeant is killed, and the train's cargo of guns and ammunition is stolen. The crime is investigated by Capt. Hanson, an American, and Japanese police inspector Kita, who, five weeks later, are concerned when a thief named Webber is shot with some of the stolen bullets.
