Rie Kugimiya (釘宮 理恵, Kugimiya Rie, born May 30, 1979 in Kumamoto, Kumamoto) is a Japanese voice actress and singer affiliated with I'm Enterprise.
Some of Kugimiya's prominent roles include Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist, Happy in Fairy Tail, and Kagura in Gintama. However, because of her voicing of tsundere lead characters such as Nagi (Hayate no Gotoku!), Shana (Shakugan no Shana), and Louise (Zero no Tsukaima) (all of which aired around the same time), some of her fans have nicknamed her the "Queen of Tsundere." Other tsundere characters voiced by her include Lotte in Astarotte no Omocha, Taiga Aisaka in Toradora!, Iori Minase in The Idolmaster, and Aria H. Kanzaki in Aria the Scarlet Ammo.

In Dèsser City, around one hundred years ago, a Pokémon named Hoopa Unbound appears boasting how strong it is. While working in a cinema, Gintoki comes upon a "movie thief" (a figure in Japanese culture often depicted as a man with a video camera as a head, stand in as someone who illegally film in cinemas). After scolding the movie thief for his actions, he finds himself warped into another world via the camera lens. In this world, 5 years have passed, and not only has the land of Edo changed into an apocalyptic wasteland, but it is stated Gintoki has died. The movie thief, or Time Thief the time machine, explains mankind is close to extinction, and gives Gintoki an item to disguise himself. After the Time Thief is damaged by criminals, Gintoki encounters his freelancer comrades: Shinpachi Shimura, who has turned into a cool samurai with no trace of tsukkomi, and Kagura, who has changed into a beautiful woman with no Chinese speech pattern. The future's Gintoki is assumed to have died as a result of the "White Curse." Kagura and Shinpachi have been trying to deal with their leader's disappearance and Gintoki, disguised thanks to the Time Thief, tries to help them overcome their sadness.

The movie begins with a young girl, Julia Crichton, waking up from a dream about the day her family was forcibly taken from her home by soldiers beside her older brother Ashley, who is currently studying their parents' alchemy books. A recap of Ichigo Kurosaki's battle against Ulquiorra in Hueco Mundo, transforms into an incredibly powerful and uncontrollable Hollow. Some time later before Ichigo loses his powers, Rukia Kuchiki and Renji Abarai arrive in the human world to inspect a strange occurrence, though they remain vague about what. Shortly after, powerful masked spirits attack Ichigo and the others at school. When one of his mask breaks, the gates of Hell appear and a Kushanāda, one of the guardians of Hell impales the unmasked spirit, dragging him into Hell. So, the spirits known are the Sinners (Togabito in the original), hide their faces to avoid being dragged back. During the battle, Ichigo's two sisters, Karin and Yuzu are attacked by Shuren, the leader of the Sinners. Ichigo manages to return in time to attack Shuren, but is unable to defeat him. Kokutō, a Sinner not allied with Shuren, rescues Karin, but Shuren manages to depart with Yuzu. Kokutō offers to assist Ichigo by showing him the route into Hell, and Rukia, Renji and Uryū Ishida decide to join the quest.
