Robert Urquhart (16 October 1922 – 21 March 1995) was a Scottish character actor who mainly worked in British television during his career.

He was born in Ullapool, Scotland and educated at George Heriot's School in Edinburgh.

Having initially entered the Merchant Navy, he won an ex-Serviceman's scholarship to train at RADA. Urquhart made his stage debut in 1947, while his first film role was in You're Only Young Twice (1952).

He appeared in many television shows of the detective/special-agent genre, such as Department S, Callan, The Professionals, Man in a Suitcase, The Avengers, and opposite Patrick McGoohan in the episodes of Danger Man entitled "English Lady Takes Lodgers" and "It's Up To The Lady" (1965) and as the title character in "The Man with the Foot" (1966). He also played the lead role in Jango, a short lived 1961 production by Associated Rediffusion. Urquhart also starred as Wing Commander MacPhearson in the 1970s series Pathfinders.

His wife was Jean Urquhart.

He died in Edinburgh on 21 March 1995.

Robert Urquhart débute au théâtre en 1945 et joue notamment à Glasgow, dont plusieurs fois au sein de la Citizens Theatre Company. Il se produit également à Londres et à Broadway (New York) — une seule fois, en 1966, dans une comédie musicale —, et interprète en particulier William Shakespeare (voir la rubrique "Théâtre" qui suit).

Au cinéma, il collabore à trente-trois films (britanniques surtout, plus quelques films américains ou co-productions), entre 1952 et 1987 (voir la filmographie partielle ci-dessous).

Alan Duckworth (known as 'Quack Quack' to his friends) is a socially awkward fourteen-year-old who is obsessed with cricket and Ann Lawton, a girl in his class. As the film opens, mercenaries Jamie Shannon, Drew, Derek, Michel, Terry and Richard are making a hasty exit from a war-torn Central American country by forcing their way onto a government civilian DC-3 airplane.
