Scott Coffey (born Thomas Scott Coffey; May 1, 1967) is an American actor, director, producer, screenwriter. His film credits include Shag, Some Kind of Wonderful, Dream Lover, and Mulholland Drive. He directed Ellie Parker in 2005.
Coffey was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he began his acting career appearing in school plays, community theatre and with the Hawaii Performing Arts Company. He also appeared in several episodic television shows. He is now an acclaimed writer director. Coffey lives in Portland, Oregon with his boyfriend, novelist Blair Mastbaum.
Career
At sixteen, with the money he had earned acting, he travelled to Europe. Inspired by Bertolucci's La Luna, he felt compelled to visit Rome along with Paris and Budapest. He stayed three years, attending high school in Rome and acting in seven films, including Once Upon a Time in America and the CBS miniseries Christopher Columbus. While on location for Christopher Columbus, he was contacted by the William Morris Agency and moved to New York, where he signed with the agency and studied acting while co-starring in the off-Broadway play It's All Talk.
After a year he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his film career and has been working ever since, appearing in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and SpaceCamp His television work includes a special The New Twilight Zone entitled "Private Channel", as well as an episode of Amazing Stories episode directed by Robert Zemeckis.
His feature film, Ellie Parker (2005), which finished production in July 2005, was an Official Selection of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and won the New American Cinema Special Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival. It was released in late 2005 by Strand Releasing. He wrote another film based on All God's Children Can Dance by Haruki Murakami.

Recent college graduate Amy (Emma Roberts) believes she's destined to be a great poet. The film opens to the sound of a gramophone playing Axxon N, "the longest-running radio play in history". Meanwhile, a young prostitute, identified in the credits as the "Lost Girl", cries while watching television in a hotel room, following an unpleasant encounter with her client. The Lost Girl’s television displays a family of surrealistic anthropomorphic rabbits who speak in cryptic statements and questions. Ellie Parker is a semi-autobiographical story of an Australian actress struggling to make it in Hollywood. Ellie is young enough to still go to auditions back and forth across L.A., changing wardrobes and slapping on makeup en route, but just old enough that the future feels "more like a threat than a promise". She lives with her vacuous musician boyfriend (Mark Pellegrino), who leaves her just about as dissatisfied as any other part of her life, and has a loose definition of the word "fidelity". Helping make sense of their surreal and humiliating Hollywood existence is her best friend Sam (Rebecca Rigg), another out-of-work actress trying her hand at design, who attends acting classes with Ellie to stay sharp. When Ellie gets into a fender bender with a guy who claims he's a cinematographer (Scott Coffey), her perspective on her work and the dating world starts to change. The story may not be linear and exhibits several instances of temporal disruption. A dark-haired woman (Harring) escapes her own murder, surviving a car accident on Mulholland Drive. Injured and in shock, she descends into Los Angeles and sneaks into an apartment which an older, red-headed woman has just vacated. An aspiring actress named Betty Elms (Watts) arrives at the same apartment and finds the dark-haired woman confused, not knowing her own name. The dark-haired woman assumes the name "Rita" after seeing a poster for the film Gilda (1946), starring Rita Hayworth. To help Rita remember her identity, Betty looks in Rita's purse, where she finds a large amount of money and an unusual blue key.

In 2022, a comet strikes Earth causing an 11-year drought. By 2033, most of the little remaining water is held in reserve by Kesslee (Malcolm McDowell) and his Water & Power (W&P) corporation, which uses the water to control the population. Rebecca Buck – "Tank Girl" (Lori Petty) – is a member of a commune in the Australian outback that operates the last water well not controlled by the corporation. In an attack on the commune, W&P troops kill Tank Girl's boyfriend, Richard (Brian Wimmer), and capture Tank Girl and her young friend Sam (Stacy Linn Ramsower). Rather than killing her, Kesslee tortures and enslaves the defiant Tank Girl. Jet Girl (Naomi Watts), a talented but introverted jet mechanic who has given up trying to escape W&P, urges Tank Girl to make less trouble for their captors, though Tank Girl refuses. Among other forms of torture, W&P personnel push her down into a long pipe and fill it with water.
