Shay Astar (born September 29, 1981) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She is best known for her work in the late 1990s, portraying the neo-feminist August Leffler, a semi-regular character on the sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. She played Elizabeth in the Halloween comedy film Ernest Scared Stupid and Paula Kelly in the Boy Meets World episode "I Am Not a Crook". Astar portrayed an imaginary friend named Isabella in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Imaginary Friend" in 1992.

The California-born Astar released her first EP, "Blue Music EP," on May 24, 2010. This was followed by her full length debut, "Blue Music" on September 28, 2010.

The film opens with Maddy Killian (Caitlin Stasey) recording footage of her childhood friend Alexis (Felisha Cooper) as she prepares for the final days of school before summer break and for cheerleading practice. She discusses how important it is to remain fit and how dangerous cheerleading can be, pointing out how easy it is for some of the more advanced cheerleader moves to end with severe or deadly injuries. This proves to be the case when Alexis is thrown into the air and her teammates fail to catch her in time, resulting in her death.
