Shinichiro Sawai (澤井 信一郎, Sawai Shin'ichirō) is a Japanese film director and screenwriter.

Biography

Né à Hamamatsu, Shin'ichirō Sawai étudie l'allemand à l'université de Tokyo des études étrangères. Diplômé en 1961, il rejoint la Toei Company en tant qu'assistant réalisateur et travaille sous la direction de réalisateurs tels que Masahiro Makino et Noribumi Suzuki. Il collabore également à des scénarios comme ceux de la série Torakku Yarō . Il fait ses débuts comme réalisateur en 1981 avec Nogiku no Haka, véhicule pour la chanteuse Idol Seiko Matsuda.

Il remporte le prix des nouveaux réalisateurs de la Directors Guild of Japan en 1985 et le prix du meilleur réalisateur à la Japan Academy Prize en 1986.

Temujin (Sorimachi Takashi) is born the son of the chief of a Mongolian tribe, and grows up as the one who carries the blood of “blue wolf”. When he is grown up, he marries Borte (Kikukawa Rei), but one night, she is taken away by another tribe. When Temujin rescues her, she is pregnant, and a boy is born not long thereafter. As the boy may be a son of a stranger, Temujin names him Jochi (Matsuyama Kenichi), meaning outsider, and refuses to accept him as his son. The time goes on and Temujin is enthrowned as the King of Mongolia. He changes his name to Genghis Khan and pledges to avenge his long-time enemy, the Jin Dynasty. Genghis Khan finally acknowledges Jochi as his own son, and they decide to fight together, but Jochi is killed by the enemy. The lonely battle of Genghis continues without end. A historical drama about the life of Genghis Khan, a hero who united the Mongol Empire.

17-year-old Hitomi Okino's mother died four years ago, and her father has remarried, causing Hitomi to worry that her father is throwing away all memory of her mother.
