The film begins with a couple visiting a friend's home for dinner. To their surprise, the hosts are not home and the place is haunted. In the present, Raghava (Raghava Lawrence) works for the channel Green TV as a cameraman where his crush Nandini (Tapsee Pannu) also works. When Green TV drops down to second position in the ratings, Nandini advises to shoot a horror program to bring their channel back to the No.1 spot. After the board members agree on this plan, Nandini decides on a location with a house with an intense haunted look, without knowing the fact that it is actually haunted. She sets out with Raghava, his watchman Mayil (Mayilsamy), Dr. Prasad (Sriman) and the anchor Pooja (Pooja Ramachandran) to complete the task.

Kombaiah Pandian plays a local rowdy who takes pleasure in shooing away thugs and those who aims at disrupting peace in his locality. In other words he is that hero who fights against wrongdoers and also inspires others to do the same. Meanwhile he gets married to Palani and develops a healthy bond with her father, Muthiah, only after disliking him in the first place. At one point of time he gets violent enough to injure his father-in-law and later repents and understands the value of a father figure. While going about his usual business, Pandian, unexpectedly and unfortunately runs into Gundan Ramasamy. Muthukaalai (Murali), an angry young man, returns to his village after studying in the city. Ambalam (R. P. Viswam) is a respected panchayat headman, since his brother got married with another caste woman, he hates their family. Poochandu (Saradha Preetha), Ambalam's niece, falls in love with Muthukaalai. In the meantime, Muthukaalai's cousin Marikolunthu (Revathi) who is crazy about Muthukaalai comes from her village to marry him. One day, the storm devastates the entire village, destroying the poor villagers' house. The villagers begg Ambalam to let them in the temple until the storm calms down but Ambalam refuses point blank. Poochandu's mother breaks the temple's padlock to save the villagers. The next day, at the village panchayat, Ambalam condemn Poochandu's mother to tonsure and Poochandu to become a Devadasi. In anger against this dictatorship, Muthukaalai ridicules Ambalam and he get married with Poochandu. What transpires next forms the rest of the story.

Pandian and Pandiarajan are two notorious sons of the village cinema owner V. K. Ramasamy. Pandian goes to a neighbouring village to see a girl as arranged by his father towards his marriage and ends up in the wrong house. Cinematically, those in the wrong house were also expecting a lad to see their daughter on the same-time and the same-day. Contrary to real time arranged marriages pandian goes to see the girl totally un-aided by parents, relatives & friends. Nevertheless, he takes a liking to the girl, Seetha and decides to marry her. Seetha likes the lad and decides to accept the proposal. Meanwhile, Seetha's marriage broker shows up and clarifies that Pandian was supposed to have gone to see some other girl but ended up in the wrong house. Hearing this, Pandian, Seetha as well as Seetha's parents seem disappointed. While Pandian's father fixes dates for Pandian's marriage to the girl originally chosen for him - Revathi, a school teacher's daughter. Pandian's adamance to marry Seetha causes a strange turn of events. Pandiyarajan, the younger brother, finally marries Revathi while Pandian ties the knot with this love Seetha.

Lakshmipathi (Prabhu) is a carefree youth who searches a job. His hot sister Kasthuri (Sumithra) sends him a letter from the city to rejoin her and the villagers compel him to leave the village, he leaves the village to rejoin his sister. His brother-in-law (Goundamani) finds a job as watchman for him. There, Dhanalakshmi (Revathi), his sister's young daughter, and him fall in love with each other. Kasthuri decides to meet some astrologers and they say that if Lakshmipathi marries Dhanalakshmi, he will certainly die. Kasthuri evicts him from her house and Sivaraman (Janagaraj), who is also in love with Dhanalakshmi, accommodates him without knowing his identity. Kasthuri convinces her daughter to forget him and later, Dhanalakshmi criticizes Lakshmipathi that he was not a well-educated. Sivaraman promises Dhanalakshmi that he will get them together. Meanwhile, Lakshmipathi returns to his village. Dhanalakshmi sends a letter, mentioning that she will marry another man. Lakshmipathi stops her marriage, convinces his sister and marry her but she dies immediately because she had taken poison by then.

The film begins with police arriving at Sivanandi's (Sathyaraj) house questioning him about killing his daughter Lathapandi (Sri Divya) because she ran away with the guy she loved. Bosepandi (Sivakarthikeyan) and Kodi (Soori) are two friends who are the leaders of a group called Varuthapadadha Valibar Sangam. The film is introduced when an old lady's (Nandita Das) son and daughter in law comes to stay on her house where she is solitary. Every often her son and her daughter in law notice that she goes to the beach prays in the garden every night. When they ask her why she is going to the beach she says that she is waiting for her husband to come. The son gets angry and says that you have been waiting for 25 years, he is not going to come. Raghava (Lawrence Raghavendra) is a typical jobless youth who spends his days playing cricket with friends. He suffers from an irrational fear of ghosts, and retreats to the safety of his home after sunset. His fear is so great he prefers to sleep with his mother (Kovai Sarala) and have her accompany him to the bathroom at night.
