Svetlana Andreyevna Ivanova (Russian: Светла́на Андре́евна Ивано́ва; born 26 September 1985) is a Russian actress. Her feature film debut was in The 9th Company. Subsequently she starred in such films as Franz + Polina, August Eighth (Kseniya) and others. Ivanova received a number of accolades for the role of Polina in Franz + Polina.

Biography

Svetlana Ivanova was born in Moscow, Soviet Union. Her parents power engineers. Svetlana studied at the physico-mathematical school, worked in a theater studio.

In 2006 she graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (workshop I. Yasulovich). More studying at the institute, Svetlana debuted in cinema, starring in the series "Godfather's son" and "Farewell echo." Since 2011 he has been working in the theater "Contemporary". 22 March 2012 she made her debut in the role of Patricia Holman in the play "Three Comrades".

Kseniya (Svetlana Ivanova), a 23-year-old Muscovite pastry chef, is very busy with her new second-chance romantic relationship, while her 7-year-old son Artyom (Artyom Fadeev), suffering from the pain of his parents separation, hides in a world of fantasy every time he feels like been hurt or lonely. In his (children's theater play inspired) fantasies he sees himself as a superhero Kosmoboy, who, together with a giant Kind Robot (face and voice of Egor Beroev) battles against the terrifying monster robot Mrakovlast ("Darklord"). Everything changes when on August 5th 2008 Kseniya gets a call from her ex-husband and Artyom's father Ossetian Zaur (Egor Beroev), who serves as a peacekeeper in South Ossetia. He misses Artyom very much and asks her to send the boy to his parents, who live in the village of Sidamonta, right next to the administrative border separating South Ossetia from the rest of Georgia. Zaur assures her that everything is perfectly safe. Kseniya, after some hesitation, agrees, because she wants to take a vacation in Sochi with her new boyfriend, a bank employee, Yegor (Aleksandr Oleshko), who can't find understanding with Artyom and Kseniya needs some private time with her new lover. But she agrees under a condition, that Zaur sends her son back immediately as soon as she asks him to.

Franz stays at a Belarusian village and falls in love with Polina. The film starts with a farewell ceremony in Krasnoyarsk, where a band of young recruits is preparing for their departure to their place of military service. On arrival at their bootcamp in the Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan they meet their drill instructor, Senior Praporschik Dygalo, a seasoned veteran of several tours in Afghanistan and a brutal trainer who treats the recruits very harshly and forces them to take part in extreme physical exercises everyday. During their harsh and brutal training, the recruits overcome their differences and build bonds. Between the harsh training sessions, they receive lessons in operating dangerous plastic explosives and how to conduct themselves in Afghanistan.
