Ted Nicolaou is an American film director, screenwriter and producer.
After graduating from the University of Texas film program, he joined the crew of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) as a sound recordist (and provided the famous van used by the protagonists). Later, he joined Charles Band's Empire Pictures, where he worked as an editor on such films as Ghoulies (1985) and eventually debuted as a director with The Dungeonmaster (1985) and TerrorVision (1986).
His most famous directorial effort is the Subspecies film series. Apart from his feature film projects, he also works in television.

In 2004, the puppets along with the formula are now in the ownership of Andre Toulon's great-grandnephew Robert Toulon and his daughter Alexandra. Robert and his daughter are both very brainy and very childlike and collect, fix and build dolls and puppets for a living. Ever since Robert inherited his great-grandfather's puppets he has been trying to create his own life force potion based on Toulon's diary entries using alcohol and blood (which according to Robert and Alex is sacred). One Christmas Eve, Alex and Robert finally figure out how to make the potion and bring the puppets to life. Toulon explains to the awakened puppets who he is and they are quick to accept their new master.

A group of paranormal investigators are given video cameras and the opportunity to spend the night in an abandoned house rumored to be haunted. The film bears little relation to the first movie. Johnny McGowan and his only true friend who is Yowler, the last dragon on Earth, is in serious trouble. Set in the modern times, a young five-year-old boy named "Johnny McGowan" travels to Scotland to live at his grandfather's castle after he loses both his parents in a traffic accident. At the magical wishing tree on his grandfather's estate, he conjures up a friend which is an infant dragon whom he nicknames "Yowler". They grow up together as 15 years go by. One day after the years go by, a documentary film maker Bob Armstrong, his daughter Beth, and his pilot Brownie McGee stumble upon Yowler. Eager for fame and money, Bob convinces John to "rent" Yowler to local corrupt businessman, Lester McIntyre. John, who is coerced in part by the offer to have the mounting taxes on the castle paid off, allows Lester to take Yowler in. He does so also partly because of his growing interest in Beth. Yowler is miserable and harassed in the new theme park built for him, and when it becomes clear that McIntyre has duped them in order to exploit the dragon, John and his new friends take action.

Randy Mason (Chris Carrara) is a teenage tech whiz who lives in a suburban neighborhood located somewhere in the state of California with his mother Marti (Derya Ruggles) and his father Brent (who's away for the duration of the film on a business trip). Randy designs and uses remote controlled models as a hobby, as well as using the modified controllers for other purposes as well. After being set up by a bully Ben (Jordan Belfi) who uses one of Randy's models to wreak havoc on the school project of his friend Jamaal (Kenneth A. Brown) and getting the blame for it, Randy arrives home to hear Marti saying on the answering machine that she is going to confiscate all of his models. Randy then decides to stash them at the model home which serves as his secret hideout. While hiding out there, He stumbles across three store robbers named Delbert McCoy (John Diehl), Louis (Tony Longo), and Louis' cousin Ritchie Marinelli (Stuart Fratkin). With the use of his remote control toys, as well as a little help from his captive friend and love interest Judy Riley (Jessica Bowman) an avid baseball player, Randy manages to apprehend the three fugitives.
