Gopikrishna (Murali) owns an old bus, received as a compensation for his father's road accident, and he is facing lots of consequences due to the pathetic condition of the bus. He sold many valuable things to maintain this bus. His friend Azhagu (Vadivelu) was his only companion and the cleaner of the bus. A mouse had eaten the passport of Azhagu and had spoiled his chances of going abroad. Some part of the film's comedy involves Azhagu running behind this mouse for his revenge. A live TV show, in which Gopikrishna insults the City Traffic Commissioner (Vinuchakravarthy) lands him in more trouble, when the former commands Gopikrishna to leave the city with the bus. His other friends, advocate and well wisher tries to help him with a bank loan to run a mobile kitchen (Tattukada) from his bus.

The story is about Thilakan and his two sons, one of them blind, Unni (Sreenivasan), and the other one deaf, Balan (Mukesh). The film starts by displaying an antic of Keshavan (Thilakan) who is an inmate of the Kakkanad Mental Hospital. Two other inmates are Benny (Mukesh) and Krishnankutty (Jagathy Sreekumar), along with the female inmate played by Philomena. The late Hakeem Rawther too plays as an inmate in a cameo role. By profession Benny is an artist, Krishnankutty is an auto-mechanic and Keshavan had retired from military service. The trio chance to come across a newspaper report that the Hindi film star Amitabh Bachchan is visiting Ernakulam City for film shooting, which is near the place they stay. They are soon joined by Venu (Siddique), acting as the brother of Balan (N.N.Balakrishnan) who takes him to the mental hospital. Venu is a good singer but suffers from a compulsive obsession to singing.
