Troye Sivan Mellet (/trɔɪ sɨˈvɑːn/; born 5 June 1995), better known as Troye Sivan, is a South African born-Australian actor, singer, songwriter, and YouTuber. As an actor, he played young James Howlett in the X-Men film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), and most recently has starred as the titular character in the Spud film trilogy. Sivan also regularly makes YouTube videos, and as of 26 September 2015, has over 3.6 million subscribers and over 203 million total views.
On 15 August 2014, Sivan released his first major-label EP, entitled TRXYE, which peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200. The lead single from the EP, "Happy Little Pill", reached number 10 in the Australian charts. On 4 September 2015, Sivan released his second major-label EP, Wild. His debut studio album was announced on 14 October with a release date of 4 December. The album is called Blue Neighbourhood.
His video, "The 'Boyfriend' Tag", with fellow vlogger Tyler Oakley earned them a Teen Choice Award in the "Choice Web Collaboration" category. In October 2014, Time named Sivan as one of the "25 Most Influential Teens of 2014".
On 7 August 2010, aged 15, Sivan revealed to his family that he is gay. On 7 August 2013, he revealed his sexual orientation publicly through a video on his YouTube channel.

Sivan was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. His family moved to Australia when he was two years old due to rising crime in South Africa. Sivan currently lives in Perth, Western Australia with his parents and three siblings Steele, Tyde and Sage. His father is a real estate agent and his mother is a homemaker. He is Jewish (his father was born to a Jewish family and his mother converted to Judaism). Sivan attended Carmel School until 2009 when he started distance education. Troye's middle name is "Sivan" and he embraced it as his stage name.On 7 August 2010, aged 15, Sivan revealed to his family that he is gay. In 1845, James Howlett, a boy living in Canada, sees his father being killed by groundskeeper Thomas Logan. The trauma activates the boy's mutation: bone claws protrude from his knuckles, and he kills Thomas, who reveals that he is James's real father. James flees along with Thomas's son Victor Creed, who is thus James's half-brother. They spend the next century as soldiers, fighting in the American Civil War, both World Wars, and the Vietnam War. In Vietnam, Victor kills a senior officer. James defends Victor and the two are sentenced to execution by firing squad, which they survive. Major William Stryker approaches them in military custody, and offers them membership in Team X, a group of mutants including Agent Zero, Wade Wilson, John Wraith, Fred Dukes, and Chris Bradley. They join the team for a few years, but the group's disregard for human life causes James to leave.
